Good to know - It won't be for me then.
My i7 930 is still running fine and adequate for most things - Not going to buy a new PC for this.
Think I will get Hive instead..

Hey, Hive is awesome. It doesn't do many things MX can but doesn't matter, it's extremely fast to get great sounds from.

Just adding it to the infosphere for those, like me, who had no idea if my chip supported it or when I built my pc.
Luckily, google says my 2600k does.

I'm really glad I checked out this thread as I was going to purchase the Komplete 12U upgrade mostly for Massive X but my 2012 Mac Pro Westmeres don't support AVX. I know 7 years is an eternity in computing but damn if this doesn't suck anyway. I get by just fine with the machine otherwise. Damn.
Well, glad I saw this before I purchased as that would have been an unpleasant surprise come end of June.

I wonder if you could plop in a better CPU in that board that has AVX, tho... Should be possible since that's from the times where Macs were actually upgradeable by users.
EDIT: Apparently not.

Original massive was one of the most CPU-efficient things I've come to known out of these modernish EDM-synths and pretty on par with Sylenth1 tbh. But yeah, I doubt we will see that because modern synths use a lot of non-linear DSP (to emulate "analog sound") which often makes your CPU cry. Filters are pretty notable example where it's really commonplace now.chk071 wrote: Mon Jun 03, 2019 4:19 pm I prolly wouldn't have bought it full price, but, i'll happily take it in Komplete 12. All i'm hoping is that performance isn't too bad. For a "EDM synth" like Massive, CPU consumption always is a thing. That's also partly while Sylenth1 is still so popular, IMO. Because you can have a lot of instances in your track.
Whether or not it will be my thing, sonically, i'll see. Super-8 was nice, for example, but, not quite my cup of tea either. So was Massive 1.
Either way, I'm having huge hopes for Massive X especially if one can use those IFX oscillators to modulate parameters, it might become my go-to synth in such case

Well no, Massive was quite a CPU hog back when it was released, especially in HQ mode.

I mean, my Phenom X6 1155t (or w/e was its name, the top-of-the-line 6 core CPU) handled it rather well unless I literally cranked up voices to 64EvilDragon wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2019 8:13 am Well no, Massive was quite a CPU hog back when it was released, especially in HQ mode.
Never did any proper testing about it though. Obviously now I have 4790k and I do not miss the times of that Phenom CPU like, at all

That's the model from 2010, while Massive is from 2007. 6 cores back then was unheard of o.OPhenom X6 1155t

Yep! 2007 was the year of the second gen Core 2. Just like now though, most people had older machines at the time. I bet Massive will chew up my old athlon xp (dual cpu with silver paint to fake the mp chip) machine!DJ Warmonger wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2019 8:58 amThat's the model from 2010, while Massive is from 2007. 6 cores back then was unheard of o.OPhenom X6 1155t

That thing would barely run anything sadly but regardless I see your pointDJ Warmonger wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2019 8:58 amThat's the model from 2010, while Massive is from 2007. 6 cores back then was unheard of o.OPhenom X6 1155t
