Issue With Chicken Systems Translator 6

Ongoing Windows 10 support. I would like to be able to do a HALion 3 to HALion 6 translation. I am more interested in where Chicken Systems plan to take the program next. The user interface could be a lot more intuitive in my opinion.

Support for Windows 10 is unstable? Can't help you there. I'm on Mac.lxworld wrote: Mon May 27, 2019 8:25 am Ongoing Windows 10 support. Absolutely agree with you on the UI - but honestly I have stopped caring about it. As long as it's not a command line interface, I'm ok with it. It's messy and confusing, sure. But that you can overcome with spending some time with it and learn what the format switches actually does. That's how I solved 99% of my issues.
Regarding Halion support. I'm only guessing here but I remember Garth talking about how Native Instruments have locked (and maybe even encrypted?) the Kontakt 6 file format, which makes it impossible to use as a source for coversion. Are you sure this is a problem with Translator and not a locked file format from Steinberg? If Steinberg have encrypted the Halion format then it's not fair to blame Chicken for that.
As for why Native Instruments think it's a great idea to lock their file format is totally beyond me. Maybe it has something to do with fighting piracy.

Report bugs at Bug Reports. Anything unreported will likely not be addressed in any future update, because (obviously) we wouldn't know about it.DrGonzo wrote:What feature in 6.2 are you waiting for?lxworld wrote:More stability.
Our entire organization reluctantly did this, after many, many warnings to you, after your extreme amount of private harassment. We just couldn't put up with your verbal abuse anymore.lxworld wrote:Like I said before they have ex-communicated me - a paying user so I can’t contact them by email
You still can post Bug Reports, as all users have the right to do and that we highly encourage.

Give people an example of what I did that you considered harassment? As I have told you on another forum it was born out of frustration with you - and as I told you (before you made the decision I have Asperger’s) let’s not go into the Constructor Pro reproducible visual bug that took you ages to fix! And the tutorial videos that were due to be finalised - 2-3 years ago!

If you have time, please email us maybe 1-2 sentences on what you find messy and confusing. Since Translator has had the same interface for 20 years, we think it's very intuitive: Containers on the left, Objects on the right, and big button that says TRANSLATE at the top. That's all there is to it. I'd like to hear an opposing view, and we'd certainly be willing to make changes.DrGonzo wrote: Mon May 27, 2019 10:22 am Absolutely agree with you on the UI... Also, I'd like to know what Format Preference you changed to get accurate results. In standard cases (which is almost all), there isn't a need to use a preference. Preferences are only used to adjust things to your liking, and the defaults should always get best results.
This is correct - this information is in our manual and on our web site, under the main Support Formats page www.chickensys.com/products2/translator/formats.html Starting with HALion 3, all HALion files are protected; all user-created files, and of course all copy-protected files. All of them.DrGonzo wrote: Mon May 27, 2019 10:22 amAre you sure this is a problem with Translator and not a locked file format from Steinberg? If Steinberg have encrypted the Halion format
BTW, this has been a awful trend across the board that gets worse every year. It doesn't serve the user well at all. It's not just that the companies are protecting their user-created files, they are not forthright in informing their users of that fact. After all, how could they? No company promotes what their product DOESN'T do. Perhaps they shouldn't be protecting their format in the first place.

I wasn’t aware you’d started!
Thank you for your posts they were as stimulating as ever!
Just remember you attract all your own problems. I am by no means the only one you’ve locked horns with over the years. Just do a quick Google search and you will see.
In fact why don’t you reset my software a few more times just to annoy me just like you did before? Another thing I bet the pirates don’t have to go through every time Garth throws his toys out the pram!
I don’t know why I bother. (I must be getting stupider by the day!)
Fill out this or that bug report - give us a cut and I’ll think about it! We are not unpaid beta testers...

I hear you brother however if he wanted to help he would have not ex-communicated me and would have talked - like grown ups do when they have a problem
The warnings I was given were more aggressive exchanges from Ms Mays . We are not at school!
Anyway in my opinion it is best not to buy in the first place. Do yourself (and your health) a favour!

Let's put our differences aside and make friends - what do you say Garth? Life is too short. Watching the D-Day celebrations made me think how we need love not war!chickeneps wrote: Mon May 27, 2019 3:17 pmNo.lxworld wrote: Mon May 27, 2019 2:47 pm Give people an example of what I did that you considered harassment?

Oh wow! I hate to break the news to you, but Steinberg has HALion locked up tight. There is nothing that converts their encrypted suff--it's the worst. If you are waiting for Chickensys to somehow find a way, I would imagine that you'll be waiting a long time...lxworld wrote: Mon May 27, 2019 8:25 am Ongoing Windows 10 support. Dude, you admitted yourself that you have Asperger syndrome. You must be high functioning, because you recognize you have a problem. You are intelligent enough that you shouldn't hide behind the label. Don't just use the excuse that you have Asperger syndrome to justify abusive behavior. You can rise above it--you are high functioning. You can do it!lxworld wrote: Mon May 27, 2019 6:00 pm I hear you brother however if he wanted to help he would have not ex-communicated me and would have talked - like grown ups do when they have a problem

I've had a sales question submitted through the ChickenSys website this past weekend. I queried the company about responding via Twitter. It's now Thursday and still no response. No wonder the company is seemingly ALWAYS on the defensive.
