I guess my perspective on him is why didn't you demo it first? You have the stupid key already

Im not familiar with the guy or his channel, probably not gonna subscribe now either, and yeah, I can get behind trashing his methods, maybe this is just a dig at cubase because he's an s1 guy... who knows. But either way, a modern program should have some sort of code that prevents a file query from just looping and locking the system completely. Even a crash is better and more useful, troubleshooting wise than a hang. And a sandboxed process is even better. Maybe one of these days, if I’m bored, i’ll let the media bay try to scan my loops again, but really the directory tree is better for me anyway, so I’m glad they abandoned the lunacy of forcing media bay usage.

I had terrific luck with Cubase 9-9.5. The only reason I sold it is because like Studio One, I didn't use it. When I do "music" (which is rare these days) I use Reason. That's just me.
I do agree with Fluff about the spiking thing though. That has happened and it used to happen on Studio One before they optimized it. CPU use is not Cubase's strength. But it excels at most everything else.

Oh yeah, the other reason I ditched it, man, I dunno, it was probably me but I had the HARDEST time with Cubase and fader learning/etc. I don't have that problem with any other host, even Reaper. Not really sure but it slowed me down and bummed me out.

Only Reaper can claim the "CPU is my Strength". Every other DAW except Reason (still) is about equal in that regard.reggie1979 wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2019 12:09 am CPU use is not Cubase's strength. But it excels at most everything else.

Sorry. Confused by your wording. Are you saying Reason is least CPU resource hungry? What about compared to Ableton?Psuper wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2019 1:28 amOnly Reaper can claim the "CPU is my Strength". He's in "I gotta dump all over my former DAW" mode. Reason is now better than it was, and about on par with Ableton. I've never had issues with CPU in Cubase, but also, I'm not on a Mac, which I think the guy in the video was.

You are not referring to me, right? I'm not that guy by any stretch of the imagination.............ShawnG wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2019 2:11 am He's in "I gotta dump all over my former DAW" mode. In case anyone cares, and isn't going to brow-beat me, I found Cubase's CPU usage to be behind the curve frankly. You can debate about it all you want, but it's just my experience. No need to get all wonky here..............telecode wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2019 2:07 amSorry. Confused by your wording. Are you saying Reason is least CPU resource hungry? Last I see from you is some silly "hope you get Steinberged" or some nonsense. Then Fluff (Ryan) which is where this thread was going, was making a fool of himself and trashing Cubase, then they were talking about Macs. What the hell are you talking about?ShawnG wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2019 2:20 amno, was referring to super Psuper. in answer to telecode's post. should have quoted it, sorryreggie1979 wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2019 2:14 amYou are not referring to me, right? For the record, I'm confused. I think that Cubase is a terrific host, and though it's not for me, I feel that others that like it are not wack.
Quoted for truth!

to summarize a few of my posts then:
I don't agree with Ryan: Cubase is not a steaming pile of hot garbage. (It's my second favorite host, and if I did pro work, it would probably be number one.) I also haven't had the CPU spikes that he and reggie talked about (on PC)
that's not to say that he's completely off base. other hosts deal better with VST, or in my case browser file irregularities than having the system just hang.
I answered Telecode's question about cpu usage of Reason vs ableton, based on psuper's continued trashing of his former DAW.

Well at least Shawn you can now tell the difference between when I'm neutral about something and trying to help the product by stating good and bad points, and making solid suggestions, versus just stating the truth about it and not expanding any further.
But its funny how you came up with "Can't wait till you get 'steinberged''' insult like its actually a thing... are you trashing your former daw Shawn? And then you took my praise about Reaper and instead made it about you.

Fair enough, I just brought up the dude because I experienced something related. It's obliviously not everyones experience. I'm not trashing Cubase, in fact I've said it's a cool program. (edited, wrong smiley)ShawnG wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2019 4:06 am to summarize a few of my posts then:
