This is serious. A pedal steel guitar that can actually do all the pedal and lever bends properly, and really nails the sound. I've been in touch with Tod for a while, and it's been great seeing it come together and finally get released.

Here's a demo:

It was a little unclear in the original description (though maybe Tod has changed it after feedback) but the audio is all Tod, and the audio of the pedal steel is all Tod on this instrument. The video is just to show the fingerings of the recording he copped the arrangement from, only as a visual of how it lines up. The player's hands in the video are not providing the music heard.

Really impressive.

Yeah, he's taken video of a Nashville studio player playing steel, and used his virtual steel to match what the player was doing. Time-consuming, obviously, but absolutely impressive.

I went as far as downloading and browsing the manual.

I realised that this impressive instrument is meant for equally impressive masters of steel guitar, not for a hopeful amateur with an inuitive attitude and a Roli Seaboard Rise 25… ;-)

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

TBH, the manual doesn't look that daunting to me, in comparison to other libraries. If Tod publishes the MIDI file to recreate the YouTube track, people might be able to judge the complexities a bit better.
