Are they still in the game or have they retired? Haven‘t heard something new for a long time...

they don't change much. they just keep up with OS's and such. stuff is solid. i use it.

You would think they'd lean on their SSL heritage a bit more and make high end mixing plugins.

They did! Until one day a couple of years ago when the obviously and heavily SSL-inspired plugins suddenly disappeared. There was never any official statement but it's pretty obvious what had happened.
A bit fried in the higher freqs

one of the last things posted on the overtonedsp facebook page was this

"These are now available from the Applied Computer Music Technologies site (developer of the OverTone range of plugins) https://www.acmt.co.uk/products/ In addition to the modern UIs, these provide some DSP enhancements (we didn't want to change the character of the original OverTone plug-ins, and this way we can provide a range of high-end plug-ins for Linux, aimed mainly at professional users looking to make the switch to Linux)"

so seems they have a new company, and some new products

I received an answer from one of the devs a couple of years ago about the DYN4000 and he said that "unfortunately the DYN4000 is no longer available for sale".
New users PM me for a 10% FabFilter or 20% MeldaProduction/United Plugins discount

I snagged it :)
They also increased their prices considerably back then too

This company is in my TOP3. Top notch sound, no aliasing, no latency, no CPU load.

I bought the AF210 EQ from Overtone a few years ago. My version is 2.4.9. I decided to check for an update and saw that the company name is now ACMT, and that they are selling updated versions of its Overtone plugins with GUI refreshes, various improvements, and slightly different names. For example, AF210 is now ACM210 (version 3.1.4, no changes to the GUI), the PTC-2A Pultec emulation is now ACM-2A, etc.

I emailed them to ask how I could upgrade to the newer version, and was told that these newer versions are considered a new product range and therefore there is no upgrade path and that I would need to buy a new licence.

Am I wrong to feel a bit put out by this? It's only 40 quid, but still. In this situation I'd expect some kind of discounted upgrade path, but to be told I have to outright buy the plugin again?

iirc they had some legal trouble with SSL, the
guy used to work for them. It affected some
plugins that they had to stop selling.

The upgrade thing kind of sucks, but its no
surprise, since for a while there, they were
linux only, abandoning all their existing customers entirely.
