I don't know if there are other borrowed chords that are wrong or not, as I could not test them all, but the few ones I tested (apart from this "E" chord) seem ok...

Best regards.
Yes, indeed! :tu:
I manually checked all borrowed chords, and found 3 chords that were wrong.
Thanks!

RapidComposer v3.7b7 is available!

This update should fix all problems reported so far (thanks!)
The good news: the current version has over 30 improvements so it will be released shortly as v3.7
The bad news: I could not implement what I planned and promised for v3.7. I am sorry about that. But the work continues.

3.7Beta7 changes:
  • New options in 'Apply Melody': 'Remove Notes Higher Than Melody', 'Melody Transposition', 'Melody Expression', 'Background Expression'
  • New option to preserve empty space at the beginning when dropping MIDI files to the Phrase or Rhythm Browser
  • "Negative harmony" added among the chord substitutions
  • Fixed: exporting phrases as MIDI set all velocities to 127
  • Fixed rhythm browser filtering
  • Fixed: phrases with the same name are saved properly
  • Fixed issue with metronome instrument in the phrase editor: for new installations the default piano became metronome sound
  • Fixed some hanging note issues when using the RC VST plug-in
  • Fixed window size issues when maximizing the window
  • 3 wrong chords fixed for borrowed chords
  • Fixed rare hanging bug when using VST plug-ins

Haven't been using/following betas. Does this have midi import improvement?
Thanks

Post

Yes, chord and phrase detection was reworked for MIDI import.
In addition dropping MIDI files directly on the phrase or rhythm browsers works so conversion of shorter MIDIs is much easier.

Attila

i am not sure but if i get the "Apply Melody / Remove Notes Higher Than Melody" logic right,

Yes, that is strange indeed.

I tried all the Midi Import Chord Detection Options but it don't get the half bar changes at the slow tempo.
I have midi chord markers in the midi file it could import to get the chords.
That's how I get chords from RapidComposer into other apps, MIDI Markers.
Bar 3. C Am 4. F G 5. C Am 6. F G

On another note will it now keep the locked keyswitch notes lock when converting to
a phrases generator ?

I'm back on the idea of some sort of simple articulation editor built into RC. I have a LOT of Kontact libraries that allow switching and assigning articulations almost on the fly. It would be really nice to be able to edit the references to these as needed.

Implementation would have to be able to reload these as well, i.e., not a restart of RC.. even just a simple edit box would be helpful.. maybe pick the key range and allow editing the text that the user can associate to it. It could then create the proper control file, etc..

As an example, Emotive Strings has 10 slots available and gobs of articulations that can be assigned to those slots. So, in theory, I could build a whole lot of variations, per instance of the VST..

In the past, with other libraries, it was create the control file and that was it. But now, I opened a whole new can of worms with Kontact.. hehe

A chord detection bug slipped into this release, which was fixed on Tuesday. The fix will be in v3.71 officially but I rebuilt the current version so that new users won't get affected. So please re-download the installer, and this will work well.

I am not sure I fully understand this question. When you convert a phrase to a phrase generator, only the rhythm remains, the notes are recreated by the generator.

This is a good idea, BluGenes, which I put on my to-do list. Actually it would not be difficult to add such an editor. Let's talk about this in a few weeks, I am concentrating on other tasks right now.

This is what I got. It looks good to me:

"Allow Smaller Than Bar Sections" should be enabled in the Chord Detection menu.
