there was a guy here many years ago "geesaplenty" who was according to him, in the et suit for some parts of the film. such as the street scene on halloween where he meets yoda.
because he had no legs, was able to waddle convincingly unlike a puppet for those particular scenes.

i cant say whether its true or not, but interesting none the less...
