Speaking of old computers that don't support AVX, does anybody know why Layzer left the forum?

As I said: my MBP does fine and is going strong, no problem there.
And yes you can get a cheapie throwaway Win10 notebook, but I tend to get a computer and keep it a decade or more. Moore’s law ain’t what it used to be.
So for me, to replace this would mean a $3k MBP, and that’s no dice.

I own an old Mac Pro with 12 cores of Xeon processing that handles modern vi’s and fx comfortably & I certainly won’t be upgrading just to run Massive X.chk071 wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2019 5:58 pm I just checked, and even my shitty notebook CPU supports AVX... i hate to say it, but... time to get a new computer guys.![]()
It’s a bit disappointing there’s no alternate option but oh well. No Massive for me or anyone else in the same boat.

My 2011 MacMini runs it fine - did MacPro come out before that?

How can I tell if my CPU supports AVX? I have no idea.
