I would like for the "white" piano keys to be a lighter shade of gray versus the black keys. I have Default Note Shading In Piano Roll set to Shade Black Piano Keys but it does not seem to be making a difference. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

The white key background is displayed with "Workspace" color, the 'black piano keys' are displayed with "Workspace Shaded Key". Would it make sense to add a 'Shade White Piano Keys' option, so that black keys use the workspace colors, and you could lighten the white keys?
It looks good when I set "Workspace Shaded Key" to fully black.

Yes, I think it would be good to add the "Shade White Piano Keys" option. I tried your suggestion but some of the shading is still mixed. I must have something checked incorrectly. Most DAWs have the white keys a lighter shade versus the black keys color.

Also, is there a place that gives a description of "what controls what" related to color and what does the "Default Note Shading In Piano Roll" do?

Yes, this could be a little more flexible.
That is why I suggested that you should 'shade black keys' and set "Workspace Shaded Key" to black.
There is no documentation for each color setting at the moment.
"Default Note Shading In Piano Roll" means the default setting for new tracks. It works here. Try changing it in the Settings, then create a new track.

I reset the theme to dark and I am still getting piano keys F and C darker than E and B. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

Also, I was able to create a new track and your suggestion does work but I can't get it to work on the existing tracks though.

Yes, that works but how did the other tracks get mixed up as in the piano keys F and C darker than E and B.

Figured it out. Changing "Window Background" caused the track colors to get mixed up.
