Hi
I'm looking for a super compact portable sample player or midi trigger.
I need a wearable system that allows me to trigger sfx, that outputs to a battery powered speaker that I'm also wearing.
Ideally something the size and design of the Livid Minim (who don't seem to be contactable at all), or novation dicer triggering iphone audio (beatmaker 2, garageband... still looking at software options)
Any suggestions or advice would be welcome.
Cheers,
Kim

wouldn't a mobile phone or tablet do it?
is it to be hidden from sight?
rather than a controller, just use a music player and set up a playlist to scroll through?
is this part of a comicon costume?

Not comicon... this: www.kiwicomedy.com/fun-police
I'm wanting to trigger sfx and music from a physical controller on my belt. Physical, rather than touch screen, so I can select them by feel, without needing to visually locate each pad.

If you knew someone a wee bit technical, a raspberry pi could be built into something to do it... or even one of these

finding something small enough is going to be the main issue i guess.
the roli lightblock is small, but im not sure how "mountable" it might be and they are not the cheapest of items.
the korg nanopad2 has 16 midi pads, but its quite long, also not sure how many sfx samples youd be hoping too trigger, although, im sure there would be a way to transpose the pads so theyre triggering different notes?
but then im not sure you could connect it to a phone or wearable sample "player"?

Have you thought about the range of mini devices from teenage engineering? The PO-33 K.O has a memory of 40 seconds. Is it necessary that the samples be memorized on your phone?

It’s not only small, but it’s affordable and highly customizable. Oh yeah... very useable.

It would be great to be a self contained device... So doesn't necessarily need to involve the iphone.
But, one of the samples needs to be a full song, so 40 second storage won't cut it.

I'm sure you can play a whole song in 40 seconds. You time stretch it to reduce it to 40 sec and with your sampler you change the speed to get back to the initial speed. If you need to find the original quality again, it's a failure however.

If you have an iPhone, you are set up. There are many samplers available that will do exactly what you want. Furthermore, you could use a bluetooth speaker and not have to have any wires connected. You could strap the phone to your wrist or arm with the same thing joggers use for listening to music or tracking their medical data, or make one yourself.
