In a video linked earlier he could choose the different types of noise, but in my demo version the option isn't displayed, and clicking that area brings up an empty box titled Noisetable1.

make sure you click on the arrow next to the massive logo and click "rescan presets"

Icarus from Tone2 can do much more. Especially the import of your own audio material.

Maybe, but, Massive X comes with loads of wavetables. And, it also sounds better than Icarus. Although that's pretty subjective, of course.
