I think Massive X is like the opposite of Pigments. Pigments is very clear to use - It's my go to synth (I like the filters) and Massive is super powerful but not intuitive - it has menus within menus that you can easily miss and it semi-modular nature.ghettosynth wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:32 pmAll this talk about Pigments, so I downloaded the demo. U/I wise, Pigments mostly trumps Massive X, then animation is great, but sound, GTFOH! The filters are miles apart. There's nothing close to the depth of Massive X in there.Stefken wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 3:56 pm I like it for pads.
A lot to explore; I can't shake the feeling that the presets don't do it justice as this semi-modular setup holds more potential.
We'll see.
If I compare it with Pigments, I can't believe what a mess they made of the UI. ADSR doesn't even change with the settings. Hoping this is a bug and not by design.
Yes, I hope NI gets off their ass and brings the U/I up to speed, but, to have really excellent modules in a standalone poly with enough modularity to be really useful, that's a win for me.
On paper, Pigments seems cool, two multi-model filters, but, in practice, they have not nailed the non-linearities in the filter models like NI has.

Sounds legit. Cool story bro.yehboy1 wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:27 pm Anyone else getting confused in their DAW between Crusher-X and Massive-X? I can’t get any productivity consistency because of loading the wrong instrument. Can I rename the plugins in my digital audio workstation?

Already did that twice and nothing happened, did it a third time and it worked. Ah well, temporary gremlin.jeffb01 wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:37 pmno. You're having a problem with the additional stuff. Rescan Presets again - just do it. when that's done, close Massive X and reopen it.Vortifex wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:35 pm None of the wavetables or noise tables are available in my demo, is this a bug or is that how the demo is?

I'm glad you got it to work. It's definitely a 1.0 release - at least when it comes to set up.Vortifex wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:44 pmAlready did that twice and nothing happened, did it a third time and it worked. Yes, I was very happy about the amount of variety in the presets. Some synths come with presets that are almost entirely devoted to one very narrow genre of music, which can make it very difficult to gauge their full potential and range. I like my synths to be more generalized and versatile, and I'd like to see a full range of what they're capable of reflected in the presets. Massive X does a pretty good job of this.

Works fine here in Tone2 Nanohost (which is basically Savihost, i think).drdriller wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:48 pm did someone managed to run it hosted with savihost or freepiano ?

Yes, the filters from Arturia are not the best. In general their synths also need a bit of oumph added. I use a dedicated fx rack for this.ghettosynth wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:32 pmAll this talk about Pigments, so I downloaded the demo. IMO the NI instruments filters are not the best either. I like Monark and Scanner but not jumping up and down for all the filters here.
I like filters with character like the ones from Vult.

Does it make sense to have both Massive X and Pigments?
I mean they both sound great, but aren't they basically doing the same thing differently?

I think so too. I even like the more digital filters, like the Asimov one. The Monark filter is top notch anyway.ghettosynth wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:32 pm All this talk about Pigments, so I downloaded the demo. I see, thanks, yes it was 1.6 gb, the 490go message appeared on the demo link page.Stefken wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:06 pmIt says here 1.6 GB for Massive X and 59 MB for the factory presets.Daru925 wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 3:57 pm Downloading the demo now, nice there is a discount for massive owners.
In the specs on ni's website its written 490 Go for full install? Is it a typo or am I missing something?
Can't wait to try it!
It downloaded in a very short time. 490 GB will be for the complete Komplete.
Let the experiments begin!

Make sure to load the correct version. Massive X is 64-bit only, so, you need the NanoHost64bit.exe.

It makes sense for me. I love the UI of Pigments at a cost of some of the depth. There's overlap though...LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:55 pm Does it make sense to have both Massive X and Pigments?

I don't hear it in the sounds as of yet. In fact, I think the presets of hive 2 and pigments are more interesting.jeffb01 wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:42 pmI think Massive X is like the opposite of Pigments. And Pigments has a LOT of options too. Modulationwise it's a monster.
