It's a taste thing, each to his own. I tried Hive 2 and Dune 3 and this is immediately more appealing to me, didn't expect that either. There certainly is a lot here and it's very good, just not for everyone like all things audio.
Native Instruments Massive X Synth - Sequel to Massive (Out Now!)

Wow. I'm really all over the place on this synth.
It's really powerful. That performer with key switches. Brilliant. and the modular environment. and I love a lfo wheel. Sounds great.
But the GUI. Why one filter? So unintuitive. It's kind of a frankenstein of a synth.

that guy...he is so full of sh*t, he shuld buy some new ears instead of looking at analyzer and talking crap since Massive X oscilators are very clean.perpetual3 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:28 am https://youtu.be/8PT3kIhHLD8
According to this video, the osc have more aliasing than Serum, Phase Plant, VPS Avenger and the original Massive, and the filters only accentuate the aliasing. Analysis is done on sine waves.
Does anyone know if NI plans to fix this in a future update?
And that part, "filter only atentuates the aliasing", he probably never heard of filter with distortion/coloring.
What annoys me is that the guy got such a following and talks so much crap that he spreads his nonsense in to other peoples thought producing even more bullshit. Now look, like 100 people will be talking "oh massive x has aliasing oscilators"
And before people will start saying "oh but he has cancer you should be nicer to him", FU, having cancer doesnt make you suddenly right because some people are feeling sorry.
Sorry for my rant

Funny, I spent hours with both, Massive X and Hive 2 are actually singing together very well. Massive X has sounds with much more complex modulations, obviously, yet they integrate perfectly!
In the Sonicstate review (with a beta version) Nick scrolls through quite many presets that did not came with the official release, and it's sad because they are very nice sounds...
Why didn't they deliver those sounds?
Is N.I. planning an update? Or to sell an expansion?

Updates will happen for sure. Expansions, why not, it makes sense considering they already do them, and they contain patches for a number of synths they have on offer. They could just start adding MX patches into the mix.

Four more months of waiting in 2019 and they released a product with worse aliasing problem than a 2007 product. What's NI doing?perpetual3 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:28 am https://youtu.be/8PT3kIhHLD8

I guess there will be Massive X Expansions down the line, priced at $29, just like how we currently have Massive Expansions.

It does not have worse aliasing, its the guy is a morron. Check it yourself. As a matter of fact if talking about serum it produces even more harmonics.hhuang9611 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 5:50 amFour more months of waiting in 2019 and they released a product with worse aliasing problem than a 2007 product. I think people should be more patient and give some breather for NI team to release at least one new update. Doesn't make sense to complain about something this advanced when it is not even a day old. Nothing is perfect on first release in the software world.

Not in front of my computer right know. So can't test it myself. Are you suggesting that the test in the video is fake or wrong? Because obviously MassiveX produces more harmonics than Serum (with correct oversampling setting of course), based on the spectrum of the sine wave test. And those peaks sure look like aliasing to me...Elektronisch wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 6:08 am It does not have worse aliasing, its the guy is a morron. Check it yourself. I have no idea what he did there but even analyzer (proq3, set db in 30 instead of 12db like the guy did) shows more harmonics in Serum. Not only that but on higher octaves its hearable without analyzer.hhuang9611 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 6:17 amNot in front of my computer right know. So can't test it myself. That's not aliasing in MX. Aliasing would have mirrored harmonics (and they would also be inharmonic against the fundamental) to the LEFT of the fundamental, MX doesn't have any of that.
The guy doesn't know shit.

Dang it! You are right... Did I just say those peaks look like aliasing? My DSP professor must be very proudEvilDragon wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 6:26 am That's not aliasing in MX. Aliasing would have mirrored harmonics to the LEFT of the fundamental, MX doesn't have any of that.

I'd better test it out myself then...and trust my ear. As evildragon pointed out, I seemed to forget what aliasing look like in a spectrumElektronisch wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 6:23 am I have no idea what he did there but even analyzer (proq3, set db in 30 instead of 12db like the guy did) shows more harmonics in Serum.
