fgimian wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 8:36 am Hey there guys, please forgive me if this has been mentioned already but the lower octave (from C0 - B0) makes no sound on my demo version of Massive X, is this a demo limitation or something else? I can confirm my setup is working ok and that other synths play correctly in this octave.

Thanks heaps

NI made the "mistake" to have the performer thingy active on the default patch. Go to the modulators on the far left side, click on the "arrangment window" of the performers so it shows up in the GUI and there click the little on/off button.
Thank you so so much! I struggled to find it to be honest, so to clarify in case anyone else can't see it, click P1 and then click the little icon to the left of P1 which will show the remote launch configuration on the top of the window, then uncheck "Remote".

That's a bit of a bad default, but really glad that's all it was :) Thanks again!!!
Hehe, Glad actually you now made it more clear, I'm at work now, so not behind MX, so had to go by memory.
But yeah, it took me a while to figure it out too. I tried to change the default preset, to no avail as of yet. I'll give it another go later today.

In case this was not posted earlier:
PACKED WITH PRESETS
MASSIVE X comes loaded with presets – from sequenced soundscapes, to leads, pads, and the big bass growlers you’d expect. Use them as they are, to kick off your own patches, or to experiment and learn more about how the synth works. We’ll keep adding more with regular free library updates.

If you did, I did as well.
The menu also covers the control so you can't inspect the wavetable or anything.
It's terrible UX. They really need to change this.

Well, I am a bit disappointed about the rude discussion here. Sadowick made a video, he addressed a technical issue, but - as far as I get it right, I am no native speaker - at no point got offensive. Absolutely no reason for anyone to get personal. No matter if he is right or not. At my German friends here: Leute, der Ton macht die Musik... :?

Avantgarde and experimental patches ARE the ones which usually show what a synth can truly do (or what it does differently from any other synth), no? :)
Well, yes we now know it can do strange and odd sounds. But can it do analog lush pads? Can it do a good Moog-bass? Can it do a musical, soft lead sound? Can it do 80s poly sounds? All yet to be determined.

Yes to all of those :)

Yes, I think so too. But there should be presets showing those capabilities off. That would help sales immensely.

There are some such patches. Check out "Eighties Essential" in Piano / Keys category, "Smooth Flute" from Flute category, "Euphoria" and "Island Life" from Synth Lead, "Oceanic Storm" from Synth Pad, etc.

That said I'm not sure why would anyone get MX solely for bread and butter sort of sounds. Plenty of synths doing those sounds great.

Well, of course it's a matter of taste but compared to presets by pro sound designers they all fall way flat. IMO of course.

Anyway, i'm sure a lot of talented sound creators are already hard at work making actually usable sounds out of this thing. :)

what type of sounds would you say its designed for then?

I'm sure you missed the memo, but "pro sound designers" did, in fact, work on the factory presets. Guys like Richard Devine, Mikael Adle, Xenos Soundworks, Nori Ubukata, etc. See credits.

Or are the above names not "pro enough" for you? :)

Also, why not go ahead and explore the synth on your own, making your own bread and butter patches? All the facilities are there.

This synth has no MPE support.

A "NEXT-GENERATION FLAGSHIP SYNTHESIZER ... freedom for advanced sound design ... a new level of dynamic, shifting sound, with truly flexible routing and extensive modulation ...built for a new decade" apparently ...

That doesn't conform to MIDI 1.0 specifications???

Hopefully it works with other state-of-the-art things like 64-bit, VST2 and USB-3.0 ...

Hmmmm ... shall I waste time learning this ... or stick tom modern high-spec "super-synth's" that do?

Hey EvilDragon, any insight into "currently"?

There are plenty of virtual synths out there that don't conform to many MIDI 1.0 specs, by not supporting things like sysex or (N)RPN or 14-bit MIDI CC, etc. Weak argument there, pal.

This is not to say that MPE couldn't be added in an update down the road.

Just that it's a word that's been placed there. If I had any deeper insight I couldn't share it. It's an open statement, so let's see what happens.

Well, as I said. All a matter of taste I guess. :)

Anyway, it's a really cool and good sounding synth. I will dig in deeper when I have time.
