Logic's 'Drummer' is ok to get up and jamming quickly, but I don't think I'd use it for many of my songs. Isn't Jamstix supposed to do the same kind of thing?
Then, of course, there's Alchemy, which is currently my fave synth. If I had to choose 1, it would be Alchemy.

I haven’t actually used Jamstix, but from the documentation, it doesn’t seem as if it will actually alter what it plays to match an existing pattern or patterns. I’ve never used an entire Drummer track verbatim, but I have used snippets and gotten ideas from it. Largely from having it “Follow” what I’ve already played.Bombadil wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 1:54 pm Logic's 'Drummer' is ok to get up and jamming quickly, but I don't think I'd use it for many of my songs. As to a couple of the other mentions, I believe several DAWs have tempo and beat matching, and Logic may be themed. I think Harrison has something similar to a Pro channel though I haven’t used Cakewalk in a long time.

Jamstix is probably better than Logic's drummer, as it's a lot more configurable. It's kind of gone quiet on Jamstix development for a while now though, and Ralph doesn't reply on his own forum as much as he used to.Bombadil wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 1:54 pm Logic's 'Drummer' is ok to get up and jamming quickly, but I don't think I'd use it for many of my songs. I’ll also mention Tracktion’s panes which slide out automatically. Not a killer feature, but unique.

I had never used any drum machine for patterns, just sounds, until discovering the follow function in Logic. It astounds me, though I use it sparingly.Forgotten wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:25 pmJamstix is probably better than Logic's drummer, as it's a lot more configurable. The mac v. of Jamstix was projected to drop spring 2018. Still waiting, but I think I am past the point of interest, now.

Hope it’s nothing serious with the dev.

It did, and there's a beta of version 4 now (although it's been in beta quite a while now)Bombadil wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 3:06 pm The mac v. of Jamstix was projected to drop last spring. Still waiting, but I think I am past the point of interest, now.
