If you're not an expert, then why are you publishing a video? Sorry, I'll wait until after you publish it to comment.

Thank you for explanation (which I can understand ;) )
Great! Glad to hear that I did not waste my time writing all this down.
I second that. Always glad to have someone explain stuff like that so that simple folks like me can understand it as well. ;)
Previous post with just a link to Intel website was too much for me :) Although I do some programming I still prefer and appreciate 'human language' especially on Friday afternoon :D

It's not the filter as in the Asimov filter
and it's not aliasing.

The filter control on the left hand side is entirely separate and is part of the waveshaping controls.

It's not a filter that's filtering out the other peaks, (why would that happen when it was all the way to the LEFT anyway?) - it's a thing that adds character to the sound the further it's turned to the right.

I'm effing sick of hearing about this now TBH.

So I did the follow up video and I thought before I made it live to my subscribers the experts could watch it and explain to me whats happening. Ive found that the filter compounds the aliasing and the LFOs in Oscillator modes are not band-limited at all! Square waves really break this thing.

Cheers for the video, saved me some money :tu:
seriously rob, ignore it ;)

its been discussed to death and what he says does not ring true :)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t he show exactly that the osc filter filters out the peaks?

It's pretty ridiculous to think that NI's devs get the DSP 101 wrong... (talking about the video) IMO, that's not aliasing at all.

I was wrong about the direction of the filter knob in waveshaping and what it does, sorry.

It seems to the right is "unaltered" and to the left is "filtered" and turning it to the left will even turn a square wave into a sine wave.

All this would be less confusing with a proper manual to hand.

There are two kinds of synth users: the ones who actually make music with them and use their ears to decide what sounds good or not, and the ones who use all kinds of visual tools to dissect a synth without actually listening to how it sounds. If it doesn't look perfect on an analyzer, it must be a terrible synth!

That is to me unacceptable.

I have hearing impairments and rely on visual tools a lot to make sure I'm not deafening other listeners with really annoying sounds I can't hear.

Hold on. So you're saying In my follow-up video that the sounds that we are hearing at 1:10 is not audible aliasing? are you kidding me?

“It’s ya boy!” LOL

Sadowick gets defensive and doubles down when he is wrong, which makes him worse.
