Kontakt 5 & 6 Issue Opening "Instruments" Folder in Libraries Panel

In both Kontakt 5 & 6 (standalone & vst) in the libraries tab, when I double click on the "Instruments" folder under a library such as Emotive Strings, the folder does not open to display the nki files. I can load the nki files by using the files tab and browsing through the directory. Everything seems to be correctly setup in Native Access. Does anyone know the cause of this issue or how to resolve it?

A quick google search didn't seem to reveal anyone else reporting the problem. Thought I'd ask here before getting in touch with Native Instruments support.

Thanks in advance for any assistance offered. :)

That sounds like the path to the library is wrong, or the layout of the library folder is wrong.

Care to post a screenshot of how it looks in Kontakt when you click on Instruments, and how it looks on your hard drive in Explorer/Finder (from library root onwards)?

Thanks for the response. Maybe I can describe it well enough to avoid the need for screenshots.

I don't think the path to the library is wrong because the path to the library content (on the drive) matches the content location in Native Access. I believe the layout of the library is correct because the instrument correctly loads and functions when using the file tab rather than the instruments tab.

But just in case, the library folder contains four folders and one file. The folders are "Documentation", "Instruments", "Samples", and "Snapshots". The file is "Emotive Strings.nicnt". The "Instruments" folder contains the "Emotive Strings.nki". The Samples folder contains "Emotive Strings.nkc", "Emotive Strings.nkr", "ES_001.nkc", and "ES_001.nkx" ... "ES_011.nkc" and "ES_011.nkx".

Yeah, that sounds about right. But in any case, do send a screenshot of how it looks in Libraries tab.

Here is the Libraries tab. When I double click on Instruments, there is no response.

OK, the path to the library seems to be wrong after all. It needs to point to the library root folder that contains .nicnt file.

Press Win+R, type regedit.exe, then navigate to:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Emotive Strings

You will see ContentDir key there, which path does it list there?

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the problem. It points to the folder "Emotive Strings" that contains Emotive Strings.nicnt.

Although I think you are on the right path because if I right click on Instruments and then click on "Open containing folder" nothing happens. But if I click on the down-arrow to the right of Browse and click on Open containing folder it takes me the folder with .nicnt file.

Edit: It seems like the new instruments included with Komplete 12 Ultimate work as they should. But prior instruments (included with Komplete 11U) do not.

OK so something got messed up somehow anyways. Maybe do a repair via Native Access?

Post

No option to repair. I'll try a reinstall. Thanks again for the advice.

Reinstall, repair, nearly the same thing :)

Reinstalling seems to fix the issue.
