I think so too ("sounds better than a lot of the other hyped synths out there"). Not sure about the "rushed release" though, after all, it was delayed for almost half a year. Seems pretty stable, and issue free, when i compare it to a lot of other synth releases in the last time.dionenoid wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2019 10:13 pm Like most synths nowadays it seems to be released just a little to soon (what's up with that anyway ?) but it sure sounds better than a lot of the other hyped synths out there.
It aliases though. And the sine wave is not pure. Needs at least 2 more updates to fix that.

Drag the empty circle up or down for pos or neg “via” modulation:)mholloway wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2019 9:52 pmHow did you do this, though? How did you make the little circle get "half full" like that? All I can do is drag the first mod source, then the M, and then I just have to different modulations of the cutoff. How do I get the second (M) to scale the first? The little circle on my screen appears completely empty, but I feel like it must be something with that?Functional wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2019 8:20 pm Yup so
In this setup, the amount of E2 is going to freq parameter is controlled by the amount of M (modwheel). At zero position, E2 will have 0% effect. At max position, E2 will be controlled fully. Note, M does not itself affect the freq parameter in any way. You could make it affect it though and for example make it so that at max position, the freq goes down and the envelope itself affects fully (meaning you can create a smooth transition between a pluck & sustained supersaw thingy with just M).
Here's how that would look like:

This synth sounds great, but man, it is NOT intuitive.
Also, NI should maybe, just maybe, start polishing MX’s rough edges by providing us with a manual
EDIT: for screwing up posting - it must be that aliasing that's mangling my poor brain

I just took to it immediately.Mushy Mushy wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2019 9:48 pmReally? I absolutely hate it. Why does a software synth need artificial knob resistance.perpetual3 wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2019 9:41 pm I’ve got to say, I love the new knob behavior. Going back to another synth seems weird now.

Yeah but in a DAW you can just use whatever tools your DAW is providing you for that.realtrance wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2019 9:52 pm Some excellent explanations!
I wasn’t being clear re: modulation sequences.
I am currently possessed by a Microfreak demon, and enjoy using the four “tracks” available in the sequencer usable to record knob movements (like on Ye Olde JP-8000, but different).
Just wondering whether the MX has same. Fine if not, I can just tweeze it with the Microfreak.
Leave the inverted sawtooth as is; teaches the kids to think.
Don't get me wrong, I can see some added benefit in having it inside the instrument, but I guess the workaround is acceptable. Or maybe it's just my way of working
anyway, MX has three lanes, but no way that I can see to record live movements (probably because of aliasing

It feels so odd and unnatural to me.perpetual3 wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2019 10:24 pmI just took to it immediately.Mushy Mushy wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2019 9:48 pmReally? I absolutely hate it. "I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Hmmm, one of the differences between Mac and Windows is scaled vs linear mouse movement. It's weird to have to switch between those.Mushy Mushy wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2019 10:28 pmIt feels so odd and unnatural to me.perpetual3 wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2019 10:24 pmI just took to it immediately.Mushy Mushy wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2019 9:48 pmReally? I'm on a Mac, so the acceleration doesn't bother me, but I still believe the knobs have too much travel.

We have seen massive turds. Not the synth though.yehboy1 wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2019 10:30 pm I'm pages behind on this thread. What's the consensus? Massive Yes or Massive Turd?

It's probably Sadowick's new alias.
