I'm replacing my system drive and my sample drive and I was wondering if anyone's done the same and how it was done. I take it you can clone your drive from the old, both windows os and all your programs so you dont need to reinstall them all. Is this true? Do the drivers need to be reinstalled?

Also, will there be any issues with the sample drive being replaced even if the folders are all named the same and the path adjusted correctly in Ableton? I'm switching from a hdd to a ssd so I dont know if that'll make a difference.

Yes, cloning is sufficient. Cloned disks are identical, meaning you cannot tell them apart. Well, the new one will have more free space.

Maybe drivers for the SSDs themselves are an issue since you came from HDs, but Windows will figure that out.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image

Clone your system drive, have a windows installer usb handy to clone the image to the new ssd, copy the data from the old sample drive to the new one.

As for Ableton Live just make sure it's pointing to the correct library location.
