General Question: Do some Hosts sound different from others, overall?

I have been trying to figure this out for a long time. I don't know if some
hosts just hide a nice limiter in there somewhere or if it is something else.
Then I have to wonder if it is the GUI that I like (because visuals have influence, too), and
the 'engine' is transparent from one host to the next.
I don't want to know their secrets, (ok, maybe a little bit), but it would be nice to
know if what I am feeling is indeed auditory in origen.
Thanks.

Mixbus has a Harrison console emulation integrated into the DAW. But other than that, all DAWs sound the same.

Some hosts sound better than others
Some hosts sound better than others
Some hosts mothers sound better than other hosts mothers.

The stock effects and instruments can have a sound if you use them, but the mix engine? No.

some will tell there are no differences between DAWs That it is a matter of 0 and 1 but in my opnion, there are differences from DAW to DAW perhaps something on the mix buss.
The worst is Ableton live even with the same plugins, I can hear a difference. compared with other DAWs.

Reaper sounds the best actually, and Fruity Loops sounds the worst... because of it's sub-par sound engine.

I could argue now that, when the DAW's only null up to -80 dB, then they DO sound different, even maybe not perceptible, but... i won't. Or well, i already did. Whatever.

While threads about digital summing often devolve into snake pits of crazy superstition, most of the confusion seems to arise from the fact that there are audible differences between properly developed host applications, but these usually have a mundane explanation, which is that there use different pan laws.

If you correct for this, 99% of the time the audible differences disappear.

Thanks for discussing the question. I think I really am affected by how nice a GUI is, then, because I like
some DAW's a lot more and its definitely not because they are easier to use. The routing on some of them is
difficult to figure out/takes hours until you learn how it all works and the midi editors can drive a person nuts
until you get used to whatever quirks are there with the zooming and everything. If some hosts are different/better
than others, one can simply figure out their own fx chain to put on the master track, I suppose, though I don't know
yet how I would design that. Small differences/enhancements can give a lot of satisfaction, especially with soft synths
because there is not enough natural sounding variation/humanization. They are too perfect.

It depends on how aggressive the parasite is and which orifice it decides to enter through.
