But dont worry, I wont pollute the Massive X hype train crew anymore. Enjoy Massive X. Ill keep an eye for it in the future and hope they fix the aliasing fest, among other things. Bye.
So Massive X is a scam to you? Didn't expect anything better from AnX, but, not from you.

Anyway, i'm sorry if i offended you. I just thought you were better than what you wrote here. Simple as that. Always sad to see a user hop on the troll train, rather than posting something productive. I had a lot of criticism towards some synths, and, especially Dune, but, i never wrote that they develop piss poor plugins, and scam their customers. Not once. That's absolutely ridiculous.

Post

A poor update (not meant to agree on NI developing poor plugins, just the update) after all the hype and time, yes I agree..but not the part about it being a scam. I’m sorry, please excuse me. Anyway, good bye.

Ok, seems like this thread has become a bit useless at this point. Maybe we all will retain our opinions about Massive X for now. The future will tell us more about it, that's for sure.

This just isn't true. The people who have been attacked either are clearly clueless and/or give MX an unfair treatment (i.e. Sadowick with that whole Saturn thing; provably that standard was not used to other synths because the artifacts originated from Saturn and everything else would have had the same ones). This guy in particular has had nothing else to say except how Massive X has been a massive disappointment. If you don't like the synth, fine, but if all you have to say about it is that it was a disappointment (without giving any reasons), then what do you expect? That people will care enough just because you have an opinion that you can't even substantiate on?

It is the same development team (more or less) that developed the Original Massive, right? Or is the graphics developer different?

Anyway, the sound is great and the CPU usage is low. I hope they develop more some of the 'missing' things. To be honest, I loaded yesterday Sugar Bytes Factory and compared it to Massive X. Man! The sound of Factory is great as well (if not clearer!) and NI should learn something or two of how graphics/animation development works from Sugar Bytes (I'm not mentioning Aparillo here!). Just see how the details in the visual feedback. Every parameter shows the numerical value and the mouse scrolling works! There are also great oscillators there!

I mean, this black sheep (MX) really made me appreciating having other synths like Sugar Bytes one besides the old NI synths like the original Massive!
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Does the whole komplete sale come back for black friday? Looks like i am going to miss it this time round and not really sure what to do. For the price of the massive update, it seems way worth it to get the whole lot really. Black friday seems a long way off from here!

Post

It was free with my Komplete upgrade last year. All I had to do was wait until it was released. The presets are not that impressive. I can only imagine the third party libraries will be rolling out shortly. I do not tend to program from scratch, more likely to tweak presets. It will be another nice tool in the arsenal.

They have an end of year sale usually (December), but IIRC that's effects and instruments half off, not updates/upgrades.
Maybe check KVR's news section for NI?

Honestly disagree, it has some really amazing presets especially if you tweak them just a bit. There's a tiny bit of clipping at the end, but this is simply the "Morse Chords" patch with that octave-shift LFO turned off: https://picosong.com/wNZA5/

Honestly one of the best presets I've ever heard

Post

HOWEVER it must be noted that there is overall a lack of presets so hopefully they will include more. The current ones are really good especially for educational purposes but for example, for pure "keys" type presets, there's not that much of variety.

Post

I wasn't too impressed with the presets either. Until i started to tweak one. And before i knew it, it was 2 hours later :)

Why is the decay shape linked to the release shape in the Mod Env?

Unfair treatement is already an evaluation and that's personal. Some people dislike it very much. Others glorify it to the point they are blind for the issues.
But only 1 of these 2 groups is using ad hominems.

Because there is no separate "release shape". They did it probably because they couldn't fit separate release shape knob into the UI without reducing size of other elements and the usecase for having separate shape for both stages was probably far too niche.

If you wanted to, though, you totally could. You'd need one of the T-modulators, assign it into note off and simply put it into the shape. As soon as note is off, it will affect the shape parameter. This might seem too much work compared to having a direct knob adjustment for it, but really, the usecase is extremely niche.

Looks like i managed to grab komplete in time. Happy days. Much more sensible than getting Massive on its own. Thank god. Been meaning to do that last couple of years and haven't so...
And now i get to play around for more than 30 mins!!
