My 2 cents,

Don't you believe in magic anymore, Peter Pan?
Absolutely. But any echoplex, hardware or emulated software, is not going to be "magic" or "fairy dust". It's going to sound like an Echoplex, which sounds great and I have great affection for them and use tape echo software all the time. I also have a Fulltone Tube Tape Echo as well, which enhances the sound quality of the original. It's just not "magic" or "fairy dust" - nothing in audio is.Audiority wrote: Sun Jun 30, 2019 8:15 pm Speaking as Luca (so totally personal opinion here): if you are talking about fedility, yes.. I totally agree with you. The Echoplex signal on the tape is shitty. The preamp has a nice touch but is not an high performance one. The transport could have been way better and I don't totally get the choice to set the recording head as the moving one instead of the read head. Said that... the combination of all of that makes a sound that I personally love and I find inspiring. Honstly, I have biased feelings about delays and reverbs![]()
Its just a different way of looking at and doing things. I am pragmatic and strive for objectivism in the pursuit of understanding and subjective success. Enjoy your fantasy world.evo2slo wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 12:48 am Magic: "A quality that makes something seem removed from everyday life, especially in a way that gives delight."
Fairy Dust: "Makes something sound great but you have no idea why."
I stand by my statement.![]()

Like Burillo, I do both. This is why I know there is nothing ethereal going on with plugins - its math - everything we hear has been engineered and is computed and reproducable. But I do know that many people like to believe in fairies. If that's what you enjoy, go for it. But know that fairies do not exist. There are real reasons for everything you hear. Understanding these specifics is very helpful in using an audio tool to it's full potential. These are facts, not everything is an opinion.acousticglue wrote: Tue Jul 02, 2019 11:15 am Kids grow up taking things apart or just playing with them, one ends up musician one an,engineer.
