generaldiomedes wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 1:55 am Sadowick has a lot of great tutorial and review videos out there, and is certainly no 'goof'.
Sadly his behavior here indicates otherwise. I'm just going to regard him as a goof. After I explained to him how to control independently the release shape, he still went ahead and did not even correct himself with the modulation envelope topic. He posted a youtube video (this was before my correction AFAIK) which is misleading MX owners about how you supposedly can't control them independently even though there is a simple solution which I went to articulate to him. That means he is posting false information and willingly keeping it there without making any edits to the description of the video at least.

This is how a goof would act.
Touchdown!

Do you even make some music (I seriously doubt that)? Or just moaning around full-time because you have nothing better to do?
How it is that I and many others are able to make music, leads, pads and... Kicks in MX and you're one poor soul that is unable to do because... Instead of making anything you just observe analyzers all day long?
Usually people use instruments to make music but guys like you use them to argue with internet hoping that everyone will tell you "oh dude, you're right my master"! This is what you want?
Stop whining and make some damn music instead.

It's not ideal, though. I do think that clicking on the icons next to module names would make sense to work as a bypass. Seems logical, and I pitched it to the team, so they're aware of it :)
Well you can also 'bypass' by selecting the 'off' from the fx dropdown list. It will keep the dialled settings, and you can reload the effect later, if you want to (un-bypass it, so to speak).

However both methods are not elegant, not convenient and not really a bypass, where you just hit a button and not think about anything more than that.

Same goes for the filter and other modules. You know, in software, important functions usually have several ways to do them, not just one, and a clumsy one at that.

Not sure how right click on a module is "clumsy" (and it IS a real bypass). It's a click like any other.

Because it's located in another part of the synthesizer that serves a different function - routing things.

It's like if you want to switch off the lights in the room, you have to go to the other room, open the cupboard that contains the electical panel for the whole house, and unwind the fuse that supplies electricity to the room you were in.

I can temporarily live with just about all of the many shortcomings aside from not being able to tag favourites….I am writing them down on a post it...I remember doing that with hardware synths 20 years ago!

MX is not even close to finished, but there are some really good patches showing what it is capable of, I look forward to the updates.

I guess NI wants everyone to use their Komplete Kontrol software, which contains tagged browsing and favourites.

You can temporarily also just resave the patch you like in User section, too.

I'm sure the browser is going to be one of the first things to update, really.

A bit too early to ask perhaps, but when can we expect the first update?

Yes, this can work as a workaround until the favoriting feature is implemented. Pretty sure, this will all come around. The current browser is more like thrown in just to have something.

I'm 5 pages too late, but you can make pretty good kicks with it.

I've been subscribed to him on YT for a few years, I think. During the six-year life of his channel he has amassed over 150,000 subscribers, and uploaded nearly 1500 videos. None of that is a testament to whether he has any quality output, but it is surely enough for you to go and have a quick look, to see if all he does is "observe analyzers all day long".

I don't know enough about synthesis to understand the entirety of the arguments, either for or against (Sometimes people strike-out and make mistakes; and, Yes...even keep digging their heels in). However, he seems to be right in his original conjecture. How everybody interprets or frets about the findings is up to each individual. And as to his opinions and disappointments: He's entitled to them

a) Awesome synth
b) Breathtaking UI shortcomings (hope they fix them)
c) Sadowick showing the aliasing thing is perfectly fine. Even no matter if he is right or wrong (or it cannot be decided) - Judging from the reactions, it seems like criticism in Massive hurts some religious feelings
d) Epic release, because of the reactions and the amount of popcorn involved.
e) Sadowick taught me a lot. So he's one of my heroes.

You can hate me now.
