Well, if you want some backstory to better understand their early history, before the the band was officially formed, you could start by reading this article:vurt wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 3:15 pmi look forward to the tales of their careerMcLilith wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 3:14 pmPsycho Killbot is my new favorite name for a synth-heavy industrial band.![]()

A.I. research projects such as those were part of the inspiration behind their debut album title "A Psychopath is Born", which was also a playful twist on "A Star is Born". The first track, "Welcome Your New Overlords" is far better appreciated, once you learn a bit about the band's backstory.

The bald guy in vurt imagination was probably that popular producer because he's also a famous porn star (I forgot to mention it earlier). Everything makes more sense now. Matrix is broken

I doubt its been in development for 12 years, besides AVX tech wasnt about then. 2011 would be the earliest they would start with that. So potentially 8 years, could have been in devlopment longer than Z3.AnX wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 12:54 pm
who knows... do you work for NI? Can you say for a fact how long they have been working on this beta version?
uhe have been working on z3 for 7 years...![]()

What I don't get is - why use exciter envelope for that particular reason - aside from a situation where you're running out of modulators and you happen to be using exciter envelope and it's closest thing to introducing a "click"? The problem I have with using exciter envelope this way is that you really have very little control over the click in time domain, since the controls affect it in freq domain.ew wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 4:47 am The exciter envelopes are useful in other places as well. Modulate formant with one for transients with the formant wavetables. Or, use it to modulate FM on the filter to add punch to a note's attack.

Regardless, I was really disappointed with his YT video on the topic as well. You don't make a video about an exciter and imply that it's really used for this particular end without explaining the comb-filter aspect of it _at all_. And then claim that the standards here are low because other people know how to use a synth...

This may seem like a bad thing but it actually is a good thing. A lot of people were worried (to a degree, even me) that Massive will be oriented heavily towards that kind of userbase whereas what we got was something that not many necessarily expected, at least not entirely. Problem here is that synths that appeal to Virtual Riot type of stuff are already plentiful and all around.neodeavid wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 2:19 pm VIRTUAL RIOT IS NOT FEELING MASSIVE X

Also, Virtual Riot didn't say MX was a bad synth unlike you later imply. He simply said he isn't feeling it.

Never heard of him so I looked him up. His only claim to fame is that he had a number 20 hit on the US Dance Charts 3 years ago.Functional wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 4:04 pmThis may seem like a bad thing but it actually is a good thing. Not sure why people think that these opinions are somehow equivalent to coherent arguments.

The unique thing about Exciter Envelopes is that they can be bipolar. It's useful when modulating wavetable position or pitch, things like that, to add some extra interest to the attack portion of the sound.Functional wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 3:56 pmWhat I don't get is - why use exciter envelope for that particular reason - aside from a situation where you're running out of modulators and you happen to be using exciter envelope and it's closest thing to introducing a "click"?
