Lol...yea, so the categorical imperative of a sale is being redefined.

I actually like Slate D's leasing prices. I don't own any Slate products because I had stocked up on everything else before I really knew who Slate was. I never really gave them a fair chance, come the think of it. I remember the first time using their software and it crashed upon opening the plugin...almost every time. I just never went back. I'm sure things have improved significantly since.

Avid...don't get me started. I renewed the update for the Perpetual one more year and that's it. No more renewals. I wasn't even going to do another year but I figures since 2019 just came out, one more year of updates would increase my options for reliably stable versions to choose from, I think, although I don't see installers for different versions of 2018. I'm sure i can get them somewhere. Besides, I'm moving on to Cubase and never going back to PT unless it's to open previous projects.

If you squint your eyes real low and look at the prices they will seem much smaller. 😂

I'm still seeing prices set by someone who is totally clueless about the concept of competition.

They use the same scheme as waves, advertising with very high prices to then have big discounts to take advantage of people just getting in to music software or are not aware of this kind of marketing.
Everybody uses the "same scheme" on Black Friday with 50% or more off, so I wouldn't blame Waves. It's pretty hard to beat top notch quality plugins from a company that's been doing it since the beginning and only charging $29 per plugin.

There are a lot more developers these days, and the competition is only getting harder, since everyone is pretty much stocked up on every variety and variation of plugin. Even the stock plugins in most DAWs are decent enough to make hit songs.

The subscription model will fade out once the renewal rates start to drop off in masses, after people realize there's not much "work" to recoup their investments. It will become a very expensive hobby that gets the ax, once real life financial obligations take priority.

Even Steven Slate is trying to retain more subscribers by offering tutorial "masterclasses" and other perks to help generate more interest and commitment for longterm investors. Must be a reason he's adding more for less, hmmm...

Yea that's their Spin. Visit our website, we have new prices.

Then you do that and they make you look like an idiot. So now they will have excuse to SPAM you yet another time and tell you that idiotic starting line "oops something went wrong, please check our website yet again" and you will see supposedly new prices which will be what? 3% lower?

I just think they're trying to get out from under that old pricing model which was getting kinda ridiculous. And they're upgrading the pickpack deal, that never seemed like a such a great deal to me with things going on sale constantly. And they'll do it gradually to avoid it looking like a mass-devaluation of their plug-ins or something like that.

A subscription deal with PA is actually a good thing. In the longer term all subscriptions are terrible deals, but it's a good way to give them all a good try and then decide which ones you buy.

The PickPack is such an awful deals that is hilarious. I mean, how many sales have they had since they introduced that? I'm sure you could've bought something like 15 of their products during those sales and still have spent less than what the PickPack costs.

*looks at plugin folder:
yup

Probably why they want to change that.

Always lusted after the PA plugins before I could afford them because other mixers whose work I respected raved about them back in the day. These last years and especially the last months have seen them become attainable through the sales and loyalty vouchers. I don’t think I’ve paid more $50/$60 for anything and I now have pretty much all their plugins. So what’s not to like... the marketplace has changed drastically and I guess they are just realigning their marketing and pricing accordingly.
Years ago I would have been ok with paying premium for a premium product, those days are gone just like paying big bucks for hardware. There are new market dictates that are making the jungle even harder to navigate.

For me, it's all the most sought after plugs, specifically all the magical and mastering ones.

Meet the new Plugin Alliance,
Same as the old Plugin Alliance.
