PatchAdamz wrote: Fri Jul 05, 2019 4:18 pm Here is an experiment in sound design.

This is a single preset done with Massive X.
It uses extensive controllers to allow live playing changes, some automated, some triggered.

As it plays, morphs, additions, subtractions of elements are done on the fly throughout.

This demonstrates the capability Massive X has to create unique, "outside the box" instruments with interesting controllers.

I like what you've done there. It's wonderful, what can be accomplished with a single preset.
Yes, outstanding!

One question, are all the effects also part of the preset?

This is becoming way to positive here.
So here's a video of a guy shitting all over MX. :)

But at end he says something interesting about the ...aliasing thing. Noooooo... Yep afraid so.
It seems that the filter is always engaged (even when it's not) but there seems to be a trick around it.

Yeah, just judging from the video thumbnail, that guy looks like a real expert!

...an expert at what, I don't know, but I sincerely doubt it's Massive X! :hihi:

He's right about one thing, he doesn't know what's going on. The filter tracks the frequency of the oscillator. That's what you want, turning the filter all the way to the left it behaves like a lowpass with keytrack enabled. Turning it to the right it's fully open.

He says nothing interesting anywhere in the video. You could have learned how the filter behaves from my post back on page 170ish or so.

Bringing the filter all the way to the left doesn't "stop the harmonics" it filters the oscillator. If he had bothered to set it to any other waveform he would have seen that. It's not broken, it's behaving as expected.

The knob is not a filter in all modes so the behavior changes. Your clue is that the knob is no longer labeled "filter."

God, what a stupid waste of time that was.

At least we're back talking to MX.
I didn't check anything. I'm off to bed and too tired to think. My brain is starting to alias.

Unfortunately we now live in an age where many people measure “expertise” based on how many followers or views some youtube attention-seeker gets.

It’s not a great metric. But then what do I know, I don’t even have a YouTube channel.

What makes "Low Budget Prince Harry" think he's technically qualified to properly evaluate Massive X?

He even tried to reference the debunked Sadowick videos to back up his emotional rant, but calls him "Shadowick" instead. I'm telling you, this guy's a true expert.

...at something.

I see more videos like 'MX big disappointed why you should uninstall it'. It's the type of videos that everyone should avoid (in any topic, especially politics). Hate bandwagon sells really great on youtube. You don't need to be an expert or have even basic knowledge about topic to make those videos. All you need is to talk sh*t and make people angry about something. It is a thing in video game industry and I see that now it's a thing for audio software to. Yes, what we need is to waste time listening to angry dudes on youtube.

YT, it turns out, was yet another really terrible tech idea.
