Yup. It's as sure as death and taxes. I can't wait to see what his next name will be though. Maybe "EddieSpaghetti_205" or "Tony_Baloney_Only"? Who knows. :hihi:

Make sure you are searching 'Software', not general search terms. Reaper is doing great BTW.

This really is a lesson for companies in customer relations and exposing customers to developers. Who naturally, think and speak another language.

Background

This case multiplied by the gol factor. He had a very clear vision of what he was trying to achieve and would bluntly tell a customer they were stupid for wanting to see audio recording live preview on the Playlist for example. Why? Because the peak meters were moving and clearly show the audio was being received (that sort of thing).

It started when said customer was arguing with gol in our forums about development priorities (64 Bit, that we didn't have at the time). While we always had a plan, we don't share that with customers. Particularly where complex and speculative projects are involved. And, gol could certainly be obtuse and abrasive at times, leading people to think he was the sole gatekeeper of FL Studio's future.

One day, after an argument between the two on our forums, I made the mistake of stepping in and saying, "the customer isn't always right". Well, I suppose this crossed a line, and he started spamming the forums with silly images, which lead to a ban and after a series of online attacks against Image-Line (including our website) and staff in various forms, finally lead to his account/license being terminated.

You can read a little of the fallout here. Please note, JWMakerOfMusic is a customer, not staff.

Its a difficult position to be in as a company. You have millions of customers, from a wide range of cultures, backgrounds and states of mental health. Some days people become offended at something you do (usually say), and sometimes that's amplified by personality issues.

Of course as a 'company' there's a 99% chance we will be perceived as the bad-guys in any issue that spills over into the public domain. That's just the mindset of people these days. All companies are inherently bad, involved in some sort of conspiracy against the customers and are hiding something.

For example, here's an example of my in-box on a Monday morning:
I really wish you were a american company! American companies have support emails and helps lines and even chat now on websites so people who buy their products can get support! you are lazy hack non americans who do the bare minimum to skate by. Thats why your help and support links all go to a f-ing public forum and I had to hunt all over online to find one f-ing "press" email. You have no idea what a compete f-ing joke you guys are! Please get one american in there to cut the waste of life dead weight which Im sure is 90% and actually start operating like a f-ing business.
No matter which way we respond to this, nothing good is likely to come from it, after the person has demonstrated this level of prejudice.

FLEX is another good example. "It's a cash grab" I have seen on social media. After we just delivered a free update, with a free plugin with 272 free presets, and another free pack due for release next week. I was surprised to see its free inclusion characterized as evidence we are in some sort of financial trouble BTW.

We are ignoring the Hip-Hop community. While one of the packs is all 808 bass sounds. Plus there are the free Strings and Piano sounds are used extensively in that genre.

It's just a matrix of bad options to respond to any of this stuff. The best we can do is keep delivering on our promise of Lifetime Free Updates, and making FL Studio better than it was last time.

Excuse me while I recount my favorite lesson from company management ...

If Image-Line's job was to hand out $100,000 cheques randomly to people who visit our website. Our satisfaction rating would be... 95%. Of that 5% complaints would be:

1. You gave me a cheque and I want cash. You suck.
2. This is in Euros and I live in the USA give me real money. You suck.
3. The tax man took $30,000 I want that back, you suck.
4. You ruined my life, I spent the next year drinking and became an alcoholic. You suck.
5. I spent it all, now give me more money. You suck.
5 ...

That's the world we live in :)

In my younger years I worked for 5 years with sales in retail. There are some customers you simply don't want because you can never make them happy and in the end they cost more money than they bring in. It's just a fact of life.

There is one thing I wonder about FLEX. Is it sample based or is there a non public editor for FLEX in order to make new sounds? ..or how does it work?

This is why the customer is not always right.

FLEX is a hybrid synthesizer. It has Subtractive, Wavetable, Multisample, FM & AM synthesis under the hood. Unlike some claims I have seen, it does not 'recycle' any code, except specifically in the for the FX section - the modules Delay (Fruity Delay 3), Reverb (Fruity Reeverb 2) and Limiter (Harmor).

The synthesis engine was written from scratch, over about 2 painstaking years. One day you may get access, until then. There is a proprietary patch editor and access to it is by invitation.

That really bothers me. Also the rompler complaints I've seen as well.
It's an effing synth plugin, not to mention free. Just shut up and play it. If you don't like it, then just shut up and use something else. Why ruin it for everyone else. Who cares what the marketing strategy is. I appreciate the fact that you guys actually gifted a software synth that you could have actually charged for. It's really that good. Thank you for making me feel guilty. (Yes, I'm one of those)

We are ignoring the Hip-Hop community...(said by some on the net)
There are plenty of sounds included with FL Studio that can be used in Trap and Hip Hop. I guess you're supposed to be like all the other band wagoneers and start catering solely to those genres. I like the way you guys have stuck to your guns and made FL Studio for everyone and kept it that way. There's even the MPC style FPC drum machine that incorporates beautifully with the Akai Fire, which is excellent for Hip Hop. Slicex is another indispensable tool as well as many other things that are included in FL Studio that can be totally used for any Urban style. It's all right there.

That's what you guys have done. I was never a heavy FL user because I had a slight problem with it's workflow in that I hated it. :hihi: but I always respected you guys because I knew the problem was me. I've always loved what you guys stood for, and the way the software is very different from every other software, and always wished I could use it to its fullest potential like I've seen lots of people do. I would even buy stuff for it over the years just to collect it whether I used it or not so as to play my part, and support you guys.

Enter the FL Studio 20.5 update. This last update really hooked me, because it added the workflow improvements that I wished for and now I started really getting used to it today and I'm freaking falling in love with it because I'm now discovering the many things you can actually do with it if you immerse yourself into it and use it for more 20 minutes. Not to mention that FL Studio is really looking super cool with all of the resizable vector graphics that have been added over the years, and the included plugins are just amazing, especially the new Flex synth, and I couldn't get away from Sytrus for some weird reason. :hihi: The whole concept of FL, makes all of my other DAWs boring now. It's not to say my other DAW's garbage, but for having fun, yes they are garbage.

Long story short I'm pretty sure there are millions of people who feel the same way, it's just sad that not everyone realizes the positive impact you've had on many people's lives through this software. I really can't say anyone else has done that in the specific way you guys have, so I hope you guys never for one second think it was all for nothing because of all the bull crap that's been flying around for years at you guys.

Funny enough, I don't even know which Image-Linesman I'm talking to. :hihi:

I don't see the name like I used to at the end of your posts, but which ever one you are, thank you for taking the time to connect. You suck.

The thread from hell.

FLS 20 was the version that finally made me buy the software. So definitely there's something right :tu:

But Flex.. I installed the update, but can't find Flex anywhere? Maybe I'll check again today after a good sleep :)
