I just tried this out on some synth lines, added a nice girth to things. I don’t care too much about the cabinet emulation, but the drive part and the filter part sound great. Never really used the previous versions, but I can see myself using this.

This sounds really great on guitar. Just one thing: has there perhaps been something wrong when capturing the IR for the Deluxe? It sounds like a condenser cardiod mic that has accidentally been used the wrong way around (happened to me more than just once - with some mics it can be pretty difficult to tell which is the front and which is the back - I have two Violet Black Knights where even what is the front on one of them is the back on the other
) - either way this cabinet sounds super-muffled...

I think you should consider these for the tube saturation aspect:yehboy1 wrote: Mon Jul 08, 2019 9:06 pm I tried the demo and really like it (using it on bass and drums). What are some competing plugins that I should demo before making a decision to buy this one?
Black Box HG-2
Klevgrand Stark
Klevgrand Reamp
For the filter section:
The Drop (also nice for saturation)
Arturia 3 Filters

Thanks for the recommendations. Went ahead and tried the demos for HG-2, Stark, and Reamp. Really like Reamp, which I might buy. But none of them have that "slam" (for lack of a better word) that I'm getting from Valves on my kick drum samples (606 and 808 kicks). Are there any other plugins that give that raw-sounding slam that I get from Valves? I'm sure there is a more technical way to say that but I'm no expert in these things. I feel like Valves opened my eyes a bit as to what is possible when using tube plugins on synthetic kick drums.dangayle wrote: Tue Jul 09, 2019 3:13 amI think you should consider these for the tube saturation aspect:yehboy1 wrote: Mon Jul 08, 2019 9:06 pm I tried the demo and really like it (using it on bass and drums). I really like Reamp, I bought it. Works nicely for me as a bit of a color EQ, able to nicely shape the sound I want.yehboy1 wrote: Tue Jul 09, 2019 5:09 pm Thanks for the recommendations. Valves is a bit hairier though, lol

Bluecat Destructor is certainly a very versatile alternative. There's also a cut-down free version of it.yehboy1 wrote: Mon Jul 08, 2019 9:06 pm I tried the demo and really like it (using it on bass and drums). I'll have to check the original recordings. These cabinets are quite old, so yeah, anything is possible.jens wrote: Mon Jul 08, 2019 6:33 pm This sounds really great on guitar. The "free" version of Destructor is more of a straight-ahead guitar amp sim with simplified controls and presets. Still, you can get an idea of what it does.jens wrote: Tue Jul 09, 2019 8:49 pmBluecat Destructor is certainly a very versatile alternative. The full bore Destructor can be used for just about anything.

It has only happened the once so far. I'll try and have another play this evening. Not done much music since then, since been editing two music videos.audiothing wrote: Fri Jul 05, 2019 4:23 pmDoes it happen all the time? If so, could you please send us more details about your system? (sample rate, buffer size, oversample enabled?)rollasoc wrote: Fri Jul 05, 2019 2:48 pm Enjoyed playing with this last night, in front of S-gear.
Other than when I changed the drive knob and it totally locked up Cubase. I had to ctrl alt delete and kill it.
Focusrite 1gen scarlett box
48K sample rate. I think 1024 samples. Oversampling would be whatever is the default. I didn't change it.

We have fixed a bug that crashes some DAWs when browsing between presets with different Oversampling values. Maybe it was related to the same issue. Anyway, the update will be ready in a few days.rollasoc wrote: Wed Jul 10, 2019 1:17 pmIt has only happened the once so far. I'll try and have another play this evening.
