Okay. Good news. The Sonic Synth 1 sounds that were originally designed for SampleTank 1 and were having issues being played in ST2 LE are now fixed. It was BRUTAL figuring it out and I ended up having to wrap up the investigation myself. But, I found each issue and at least got them to play (even if they may have to sound a little different in ST2... in some ways actually BETTER such as Ye Old Space Organ). So, we'll be putting together the fix CD and sending it out as a freebie to all esoundz SS1 customers. We'll also put on any fixes from the old eROMS on there although there are only a handful by comparison.

So what was it? It was a variety of offsets with the macros or internal connections (the "clicks" and no sound often had to do with sample start point values that had changed). Sometimes, such as in the case of the patch "Supper's Ready" there was just another effect added that was making it not sound. It was an Env Filter that was accidentally added somehow and if you just turn off the effect BAM you have the sound. But, that was one of the easier fixes. The others required thinking outside of the box that is already outside of the box! I had to think about what sort unusual programming we may have done years ago and reverse engineer the whole thing. There are other tools under the hood I am not allowed to talk about that work a little differently from version 1 to version 2. We kind of pushed it a little too hard that's all. Of course, at the time we had no idea what ST2 would be like and how it would change.

Anyway, just so you know these sounds worked fine in the original. Now they'll work well in ST2. Thanks for your patience. Here is the list of the sounds we tweaked to be compatible with ST2:

Sonic Synth:

(Bass)Funkadelix bass
(Chromatic)Rotary clav
(Chromatic)Wah Clav MW,
(Brass-Winds)001 Brass Section
(Brass-winds)Big Brass
(Brass-winds) Second Baritone
(Brass-winds) Blewz Traveler
(Brass-winds) Blues Harp
(Brass-winds) Trombone Alone
(Guitar/Acoustic) compressed steel
(Ethnic) Flute of the Dunes
(Misc Keys-Synths) Big Time MW
(Misc Keys-Synths)Big Whoop
(Misc Keys-Synths) Bigger Whoop
(Misc Keys-Synths) Speed Pad
(Misc Keys-Synths)Ye Old Space Organ
(Misc Keys-Synths) Modwheel Organ Synth
(Organ) Suppers Ready
(piano stack) hammerstack Piano
(piano stack) Rag Timez 10
(SFX) Alien Horn
(SFX) Digital Kahuna
(SFX) Liquauox
(SFX) Neptune's Garden
(synth pads) Chime to go
(synth pads) chime vox
(synth pads) Recitfy Pad
(synth pads) Thick Space
(synth pads) VelPort Pad
(synth pads) zow pad
(synth pads) Dripping Wet Pad
(synth pads) Sabretooth Synth
(synth pads) Patchicus Caesar

If there is a sound that is either making no sound, clicking or crashing that is NOT on that list then PLEASE tell us before the end of the day Monday. I've gone through everyone's list in this thread and our own double and triple check. This should be all of the fixes. I am only talking about Sonic Synth 1, not the eROMS (that is already fixed because we have Expansion Tank titles with the updates of those sounds so we'll grab the ones that were having issues and put them onto the fix disc).

If anyone has a fast connection and wants to just quickly test our fixes to make sure they work (but most likely they will) then let me know. I may upload some of them. Either way, they are going out to you all on Tuesday, free regular snail mail shipping (if you place an order of anything on esoundz that is shipping on Tuesday however you can request that the fix disc is thrown in with THAT order which will get to you faster).

Great news, thanks Squids!! :)

That's good news. Thanks for the time passed on this fix...

Thanks Squids for the good news but what is with that person like me who ordered SS1 2 year ago in Germany? It would be very nice to have the same possibilities to use that sounds like your direct costomers for SS1. For me it would´nt be a problem to download it because I have a fast internet. Do you have a solution for me?

All group buyers and SS1 customers on esoundz that also own any ST2 product (LE, L or XL) can get it for free. Anyone else who owns SS1 can get it by just ordering one ST2 format product from www.esoundz.com and we can throw this disc into the shipment for you. That way the shipping and everything is covered by the other.

We're not opposed to giving it for free to any Sonic Synth 1 user but if you didn't buy it from us then we'd need to be sure you own it. So, if just picking up one out of the 28+ ST2 format products on esoundz.com is not what you want to do then perhaps showing sales@esoundz.com proof of ownership and paying some minor shipping and handling cost will work. The download option I mentioned was only for some of the sounds to test them before we make the CD. It is about 190 megs so it is too large to have the whole thing be downloadable. We'd exceed our bandwidth.

So, really, just make arrangements to get the CD. sales@esoundz.com

Just to make sure it is understood, Sonic Synth 1 was discontinued and is being replaced with Sonik Synth 2 which has been designed to work with the ST2 engine. Sonic Synth 1 was designed to work with the ST1 engine but even though it is discontinued we did this to make sure that SS1 users (especially group buyers who got it with ST2 LE) are able to load all of the sounds, including these 33 out of the 400-500 or so that are in the package.

I've got fast internet access, so I'm up for downloading them. Heh - I could even tell you if they work or not! :D

I haven't received my disc yet, should it take this long to Denmark ??

Also, I just discovered some sound in the Ethnic categori that does not make sound at low velocities: Home on the range, Shakuhachi, Flute of the dunes, Fiddle (only on some notes, F3 most noteably).

Where these missed, or is something wrong with my system ?

Using ST2 LE 2.0.8 in Logic Pro 7

cheers
Peter

Has someone receive something ?
I haven't receive something yet.
Squids, do you think it's normal (I'm in France) ?

A bulk of them were sent out late because they had to be replicated. They were also sent regular mail so it could take a little while. Please be patient. ALL group buy people definitely had their sent by now. Also, anyone who bought SS1 and ANY ST2 LE ,L or XL product from esoundz was also sent this disc for free the same way. Many people DO have the disc already. But, they would mostly be people in the US who were sent with the first batch of about 100 people.

Just for the record:
- I did belong to the group buy
- I do not live in he States but in the Netherlands
- I also did buy the ST2 upgrade.

- and I did not see my sent arived already

So you cannot say that every goup buy member has received his sent already.

What you can say that it is on its way and will arive some day.

Uhhhh. I didn't say that everyone from the group buy has RECEIVED it yet. I said that everyone in the group buy has had the disc SENT to them by now. Sent meaning it has left the eSoundz building and is in the post on its way to those people. Some were sent two weeks ago, some were sent a week ago and some were sent this week but I know that all of them are out the door now (there were a lot of them).

Unless someone had ordered something new and asked that the disc be put in that order, there is otherwise no form of tracking for these discs as they were SENT regular mail (not even Global Priority like product shipments). This is because hundreds of these discs went out for no charge.

Thanks for your patience. They should arrive anywhere between 1-2 weeks.

Got mine (UK) :D Thanks Squids.
RIP Black Tom and Beckett. They weren't just cats, they were MY cats, the best cats ever.

Post

I received mine last week. Thanks for the fix, Squids. That seemed like a lot of work to do for a discontinued product.

Now, can someone tell me why SampleTank does other weird things, like rescanning my sounds when I CANCEL out of the Preferences dialog?

Post

Got mine, got it loaded up and everything seems to be running great now.

Thanks Squids!!
