Ok I googled it and read the pbs article.

Apparently he claims he did inform his partners, and also paid them millions of dollars to keep quiet about it.

I didn't know any of that either, I thought that we were just talking about the pointless, other than for its own sake, overindulgence, which makes sense, but, duh, and also, still needs more funny.
