I appreciate this might be true, but it's just too expensive and the CPU usage is also a barrier. If it uses convolution then I suspect it is also latent, which is a serious deal breaker for me
I demoed them to see what the fuss is about but honestly prefer the sound of ToTape5. They sound cool but I didn't feel like they were leaps and bounds from ToTape5, in fact I preferred the airwindows offering on the songs I tried them on. The cpu hit was massive for me, I don't mind printing if it's worth it but yeah, these aren't for me.
The IK Tape Machines are very good but ToTape is certainly no slouch!

so many opinions! I am confused! But I do agree that tape does smooth things out, I think though the digital software of today isn't there yet because of computer technology, its not the developers's fault. I hope with the boost of CPUs and all that we can have awesome 3D detailed sound in the box!

I'd also recommend Airwindows ToTape5. So classy

Gosh, my GAS is wanting me to spend money on the IK tapes...

PLEASE, SOMEBODY TELL ME WHY TOTAPE5 CAN'T COMPETE WITH THEM!
A well-behaved signature.

Me too!

For electronic music, are they really better than Reelbus 4 or Softube Tape?

I finally watched Chris’s video and demoed Airwindows ToTape5. Slapped it on a couple of projects, and it sounds fantastic and it’s super easy to use.

I can’t believe that thing is free.

I never bothered much with tape, but I did get good use out of roundtone from sknote on a project that was supposed to sound “distorted and older”. I still use it from time to time for drums and such.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

ToTape5 doesn't have a GUI with a huge gif of a spinning tape machine on it. :hihi:

Anyone has experience with Fuse Audio Labs TCS-68 Cassette Tape Channel? I saw a demo video and liked the sound + they have a sale going on currently. It's certainly not the high end reel sound, but supposed to emulate a consumer cassette multitrack recorder - so rather lofi-ish.

Do you want your tracks to sound like old demo tapes?

Just watched a couple of videos on YouTube. To my ears it makes a very subtle difference.

Yes, if that is the sound I'm going for in a particular project. At least it would be nice to have the ability to put the nineties demo tape cassette sound on some tracks or busses. In the videos that I've seen the effect was clearly noticeable once the signal was pushed and I liked the sound.

Go for it then. :tu:
