The "NEW" Plugin Alliance?

I'm giving them points for style. They are trying hard to make this an event thing, these emails are long and full of fluff.
I think it's as simple as we all expected, they are introducing a subscription model. Looks like it will be priced in tiers depending on how much you've invested in the past. I'm also expecting a discounted intro price offer to get this thing started.
They also seem to plan to keep selling plugins as usual. And those sell with discounts so I expect that part of the business to remain roughly the same except the discounts will probably become less generous now that they also offer a subscription.
To be fair, the subscription is a good deal for new people without plugins, or people that do this for a living and stay busy and want to have plenty of plugin options. I'm expecting the subscription to be in the realm of $19/m for the "heavy hitters" and $29/m for newcomers, "but wait! act today for an extra discount."

this DEAL OF MY LIFETIME is based on
some people have spent a LOT of money with them, just not over the last year.
also some people own most of their plugins, but bought them for $9 or $5 second-hand.
anyways, two options to choose from tomorrow.
and THIS time...
IT'S PERSONAL!
so subscribe or die
what about the amount of money we've spent with them over the last 10 years?the number of different PA licenses you already own
and the amount of money you spent with us in the last year.

I wonder if this is going to backfire - companies have to be careful of setting expectations with their customer base. If expectations are set (eg. deal of a lifetime) and if they don't deliver, it can cause some pretty serious backlash. Good luck PA and Di*k, I think you're going to need it.

This model seems to be working well for Fabfilter, with larger and larger discounts as you buy more of their products. However, their catalog is FAR more limited than PA's, so that's a huge difference. I'm only a Pro-R and Pro-DS away from owning everything but the basic/simple level plugs.jochicago wrote: Sun Jul 14, 2019 11:28 pm I think it's as simple as we all expected, they are introducing a subscription model. I don't know what to say about this:
Interesting that there is no price to the original V2. I'm sure this means nothing but it's just an observation.
or perhaps we need to...

logic dictates that they are no longer selling v2 of the DSM and there isn't gonna be a price for the v3 DSM until the morrow along with all the other prices and upgrade costs (for those that own the v2 DSM) pretty sure the product listing of v2 DSM will vanish... but this is merely my speculation
cheers

Totally agree. V2 is a bug-ridden plugin. They need to lose that one for sure.

This better be a fantastic deal for me to jump on it. I just looked over their product page and I really have all of the ones I really want. There's some 'wouldbenice' but with the LION still MIA (lions are really lazy animals)..
Also can anyone point me to clear explanation of how those owner tiers work vis a vis the vouchers you get?

I'm good on PA stuff too. I'm just waiting for the email from PA so I can determine whether or not to spend more money on the PSP sale right now or use my voucher and money on something from PA. The only thing I'd like is the Shadow Hills comp. I'm still very slighted about the DSM V3...very slighted.
Apparently the value of whatever special vouchers they're going to give their patrons will be proportional to the amount of money spent with them in the last year. That's all we know.
I honestly think the Deal of a Lifetime is a free plugin. One free plugin of choice. No limit of on the cost of it. If not, oh well...

They need to hire a better marketing team. But instead of paying thousands of Dollars for such a massive collection, you can now get access to ALL of these plugins, while paying only $24.99 per month (coming soon!) or $249.99 per year (available TODAY - give us an hour!) in our new subscription plan, similar to your Adobe or Apple Music deals
