Yeah if you want to ensure no further frustrations, it might be worth it to spend a bit extra for a top-tier interface. The Behringer one works fine for me, but there will always be compromises when costs are cut so much.
I think Focusrite just came out with the 3rd Gen as well.

Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care
