Does this generate chord progressions?
It seems not.
If you get this would be great to hear your comments about it.

Definitely not, I have version one, and as the name says: its a riff generator. So you feed in chord progressions and it genrates riffs out of it. Difference between version 1 and the new one is mainly the complete different sample set: version 1 only synth-based sounds, new version mostly real acoustic instruments (which is the real strength of In Session Audio so I would definitely recommend the new version if anybody needs something like this),

Agree—It's definitely the sound set (I love In Session's guitar stuff as a rule) that intrigues me once again with this tool, as all the demos I've watched since the first version appeared have made it clear it's a very good generator, but until now WAY too expensive for me. So, these new sounds and good price have finally sealed the deal:)

But I see no ways that you can send it chord progressions, just key and scales… Have I missed something?

Noatikl-which is a full on generative program
SoftStep- which became Artwonk, a modular enviroment for generating midi
Hypercyclic-not as complex as the others
Thesys
Reaktor-sometime i would chop out the midi generators of ensembles or use the outright sequencers

send it chord progressions
Sorry David, that was misleading. My workflow is just that I have midi chords on the track I feed into Riff Generation, but of course these chordprogressions where generated with other stuff, Captain Chords for example.

Looks to me like RG still does not do polyphony, although on a recent video it sounded like the bells were polyphonic on some steps. I would like to be excited about this, but it still hasn't impressed me any more than some other kontakt randomizers out there that are less expensive even at $100. Vids have way too much reverb and delay for my taste; hope there's a global dry setting. What are this tool's high points besides single lines generation? Can you achieve polyphony by setting up a multi and running the same scale on two or three instances?
Will most likely pass on this since I already have Fluid Harmonics and Arpology.

Codefn42 randarp is a great lightweight device . Good when mixed with other midi sequncers etc. Sadly a bit buggy with Reaper. I have not found anything else as simple and powerful for generating little flurries of notes here and there

Doesn't do polyphony, and I'll test your multi idea, sounds possible. You can definitely turn off all FX. I agree it's still very expensive at $99.

The high points IMO are:

The sound set, which is lovely, extensive, and quite varied
The riffs are very easily tweaked, and can have up to 8 key-switchable variations
The sounds can be selectably assigned (from 1 to 5 different sounds per riff) to any note events in any riff
The sounds can be played (monophonically) in RT by setting the riffer to retrigger a single note.

So, NOT to be bought just for its MIDI features, for sure…

Here's a pretty neat new Euclidean device for a very reasonable price:

https://www.hornetplugins.com/plugins/h ... generator/

The star features, IMO, are that it has 16 independent Euclid lanes, and that each can be set to one of 5 different modes, including playing a single assignable note, or to arpeggiate whatever notes you hold down, which makes for very melodic Euclidian textures compared to any of the other Euclidean sequencers I've tried, including the new HY one, which I've generally found less than delightful with tonal instruments. Sadly, you can't (yet) cycle the lanes to offset the patterns; I've sent a FR for that addition… And the AU MIDI FX is currently crashing Logic for me every time. (The vst works fine…)

Can't be repeated too often in a thread like this: REAKTOR!!! There's SO many incredible, unique, MIDI generators for free in the User Library, more than equal to anything available for sale.

Here's one not to miss as a MIDI FX:

To just use the MIDI Out of Random Note Player, you can delete the other stuff, tho they sound great, too.

It's based on the Player in this beautiful instrument, also in the UL:

I tried to find a video showcasing Hatefish RhyGenerator but came up empty.
No demo version for it. Is there a video?

Instead of a demo it is "return if you dont like it in 15 days for your money back"
So far I think it is a nice little sequencer that needs to feed in to other midi fx to get something I want
I just made something going Riffer > Obelisk > Hatefish (arpeggiator mode) > Reaktor Toms Midi Mangler to thin the notes a bit and randomise velocity > Flow motion for the main track

It is very quick to work with, which I like, and very easy to understand, which I need.
