Lyrics that just rub you the wrong way

'Hit me baby one more time'

That lyric is from a long list of songs written in English by Swedes (usually in the Max Martin pop factory) where they make a number of odd, inexplicable phrases.

Yeah but there was also that terrible video - the whole song was a misogynistic anthem

But the lyric was written to mean "Hit me up on the phone one more time", but it was written by Martin who didn't get the alternate meaning as I was pointing out.

Oddly enough, Britney was the one who wanted the video in a school and she pushed for the outfit.

All so weird.

Yeah but pretty sure the US producers and Britney herself would have fully understood the 'alternative' meaning (actually the usual meaning), it just made it 'edgy' as did the creepy schoolgirl stuff - anyway just saying why it rubs me up the wrong way (even if it can be 'rationalised' to be innocuous)
