This is a film exclusive, a film of which you will have likely never seen the likes of before.. you will recognise what is and what isn't in your eyes. It's a piece of art but more than that, it's a technical milestone in what has been one of the most challenging but exciting projects I've produced in recent years... In brief, pretty much everything except 'Fred' was modelled, textured ect by myself...the rest you'll figure out...

Further details are provided in the description below the video on YT...

Enjoy... 'Oh btw... it's best viewed in darkness'

Caution: Contains strobe lighting.

Everything looks and sounds good.

Otherwise, sadly I had no real idea of what I was watching and why? Sometimes vaguely dystopian, sometimes blatantly a re-build, and then interwoven a seemingly big tongue in cheek advert that I hoped to be V 3.0 of a related synth but then none of the above.

You've developed some skills, I'd love to see them coupled with some more visible scriptwriting as I kept thinking it was going somewhere, then it wasn't.

Well done on finishing and getting it out there tho as that is a big part of the process.

:-)

p.s. I say this knowing my films to my music are not a lot better ;-)

That's probably an illusionary effect of pressing the screen. But yes, I do keep my nails short, and no I don't bite my nails, that's just gross. :D

I pretty much left the story to one's imagination of what they think is going on, but using key elements to aid as a guide. If you've seen the films, you'll know about how there's a competition between good and bad, losers and winners, whilst intertwined with that is the story of development and technology....and I'm also a big fan of horror films, so that's in there too. :)

Cheers. :)

It's a lot of work, isn't it? That's what stops us from doing it - we don't know how we'd find the time. What software did you use?

Yeah...it's a lot of work, a lot of patience, self learning the tools and techniques, using different modelling techniques. The project originally started back in June 2018 I think, with filming, then the other parts progressed from there... There's around 7 different worlds... the last city has about 35 different types of buildings...not counting the outskirting smaller ones, the bike design took about week...rendering times were up to 6 to 8 hours for flyovers. Transparency and reflections were a CPU killer. I use to have to write 2000 word essays on my Uni projects with what I did, this one would probably involve 8000.

The programs I used were listed on one of the screens in the film...although there was one, I'll keep secret.. for now. But specifically version 11.5 of Cinema 4D, Studio One 4.0 / 4.5 for the music..besides 3.5.

To be honest, I lost interest about 5 minutes in. Sorry. I taught myself 3DS Max about 20 years ago and it's not an easy thing to do. The thing that helped me the most with it was teaching it to other people. I got a gig as an instructor at a small private college and it really made me get stuck in and learn it inside out. Until then I had just sort of skated by on the few things I needed it for at work.

We use Cinema 4D where I work now and I am pretty hopeless with it. I can do the basics, enough to make some text fly in and look pretty, but that's about all. I've never really tried any modelling in it. If I need any complex models these days, I go looking for them on places like Turbosquid. It's amazing what you can get for under $10 and even if it's something you could make yourself in a few hours, it's worth spending the money.

I also have Element 3D, which is an After Effects plugin. I tend to use that a lot more than Max or C4D these days, fr work and for my own projects, as I have several model libraries for it, including one called "Metropolitan" which is a whole pile of skyscraper and building models, all textured and ready to go.

This is clearly something that has taken a lot of skill and time to put together. I have no idea about this kind of thing, but definitely appreciated some of the design aesthetic. Also liked the music. But everything else just falls apart, for me

It is not clear whether it's all in service of promoting your music, your gui redesigns or your graphics skills. I suspect it's all of the above. Nothing wrong with that. However, the story/narrative/film part just seems like a mess.

There's nothing wrong with dropping in themes/easter-eggs from known material, as long as without those elements it is still a cohesive whole. For those of us who didn't get all the references, it was just a disparate set of images that apparently we are supposed to form into our own story.

To me, it feels like a tech demo rather than a "Futuristic Sci-Fi Film". Other than that, it was fine.

Anyway, nice to see my old 800XL and Vurt getting some screen-time :tu:
