You could have chosen mixed and decide per track.
It's 8 to 12 weeks. There are other factors than payment to decide who you deal with.

Not for me. For me this is purely business. It's not like I'm ever going to become famous doing library music. It's just a get a paycheck, nothing more, nothing less.BertKoor wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 1:42 pmI thought this all was to leave your mark on the planet?

Why are you in such a rush? You've only decided to go down this avenue in the last week, and yet you are going so fast that you are having to pitch for cinematic work with pop music. You could be the greatest pop producer in the world, but that doesn't show you can write atmospherec, cinematic or ambient cues.wagtunes wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 1:24 pm Oh, and just for the record. I'm not making excuses. It's called hedging my bets. If it can be 12 weeks to find out from one site if I'm accepted, I'm not waiting around for them. I'll submit to other sites in the meantime. If I'm accepted somewhere else, well, Music Vine loses out. The reason is because I'm going exclusive. It pays more. So I'm looking out for myself, that's all.
If Music Vine wants me, they better decide fast.
Well, like I said, the application's been sent so what's done is done. I can't unring the bell. Yes, I will start putting tracks together as I can now see that, unlike Audio Jungle, where you just sign up, I may have to submit work to be accepted. I wasn't expecting this. So I screwed up with Music Vine. It's okay. There are dozens if not hundreds of these sites. I'll eventually find somebody who will take me. But I'm not going to sit around waiting for things to happen. I have to make things happen.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 1:49 pmWhy are you in such a rush? And you went from not caring about money, and just wanting someone to record your work, to now being all about exclusivity because...money.
Why not spend some time building up a small, focused portfolio, in the style of music you are pitching for? You've got at least 8 weeks while this application is going through the motions. You might end up with five tracks. And even though they'd be your only tracks in this style, you'd at least be able to ensure that they are your best. That would also stand you in good stead for other similar organisations who might ask for your five best cinematic cues![]()
If you were applying for a job as a pastry chef would you take a curry to the interview?wagtunes wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 2:48 pm This is my latest track. Should I have submitted this?

Well then I have no business trying to get into this business until I've built up a catalog and that can take years, so what's the point? I might as well just keep writing pop songs and keep trying to make it there. At least I have a vast collection of songs.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 2:56 pmIf you were applying for a job as a pastry chef would you take a curry to the interview?wagtunes wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 2:48 pm This is my latest track. Come on... really!? Were you that naieve??wagtunes wrote:I may have to submit work to be accepted. I wasn't expecting this.
No, that's not OK, and it's not too late to do something about it as well. You can still change the SoundCloud list, it's still early days. Put in that last song, it's definitely a good one. Brings a smile on my face, style reminds of Travelling Wilburies. Just fine...wagtunes wrote:So I screwed up with Music Vine. It's okay.
I guess I can change the list, assuming they haven't gotten to my application already.BertKoor wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 3:12 pmCome on... really!? Were you that naieve??wagtunes wrote:I may have to submit work to be accepted. I wasn't expecting this.

Let them decide in what genre to put it.
Oh, and Audio Jungle accepts you with no having to submit music beforehand. Getting tracks approved, that's a different story (it's tough) but at least they let you in.BertKoor wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 3:12 pmCome on... really!? Well, I thought the idea was that Wags was done with pop stuff. Thought he was pitching for the cinematic angle.BertKoor wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 3:12 pmCome on... really!? Were you that naieve??wagtunes wrote:I may have to submit work to be accepted. I wasn't expecting this.

And after 5 years (that's what I'm giving this) it doesn't pay at all, I'm going back to writing pop songs.
Like I said, I have a plan.
Having made ANY amount of money in the music business. That would make me a success in my eyes, because as of now, after 42 years, that total is ZERO.vurt wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 3:46 pmso how many zeros on the paychecks denotes success?wagtunes wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 1:48 pmNot for me. let's says 6 monthly royalty checks, what sum every 6 months means you will consider yourself successful?
Here's a lot of zeros.vurt wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 3:46 pm ...
