IMO you would do well to team up with a writer or at least a storyboard creator. Regardless there’s a lot of skill displayed.
It is posted in a curious subforum, though.
It's pretty rare, to find one person in any big film production that pretty does everything himself as I've highlighted, so working with others is something I've done in the past workwise some years ago locally in my area for big screen viewing at the cinema, which was fun.
Could you show some of your big screen commercial work
Student reel of Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Games & Animation , all done by individuals .
Heavypoly , a humble dude who worked on the latest spiderman movie and now works for sony (he's an avid blender user )
So once and for all ,stop bragging about your NON existent talent , it's time to wake up and let go of your inflated ego
And for those starting with 3d , blender 2.8 is absolutly ACE , epic games just invested 1.2 million dollar in the blender development foundation

Also the music doesn't really seem to sync up with anything that's going on visually. I watched it through though, and my overall impression is that it needs some sort of direction.
Not trying to criticize needlessly, but thought you would appreciate honest feedback.
(I've quoted the above people, but my response below is more a general follow up)DuX wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 8:47 pm I am a fan of retro graphics and computers, and "demos", those were the thing when I was a teen. This reminded me of those times. However it left me somewhat empty. Maybe because you failed to convey some deeper and more clear feelings in it. There's nothing I can feel. Just a 90s poor 3D techno animation lookalike. But hey, nobody made a great music or a film first time. One has to be persistent and keep trying. Keep trying.
btw. music is nice.![]()
Thanks, yeah... it's been a big technical challenge (more than any other to put together all by myself) and I've learned so much during the process from the software I used to the actual film creation process itself, and the limitations I have had hardware wise. A 10 years old GTS 250 1 Gig Graphics Card, and a 10 year old I7 920 processor, and limit to 16 Gigs of Ram which I pretty much almost reached by the end city flyover was really pushing it.
In fact that graphics card had to be replaced with a new one in spring of this year and even that struggled to display all the textures within the viewport, and it had 8 Gigs of ram. Rendering times were upwards 4 to 8 hours in some parts at 100% CPU usage, so there had to be optimisation in settings and frame rate tricks, keyframing, texturing, lighting, and that's before all the exporting, compositing and re-compositing effects... and assembling everything ect...
And then there's other aspects in where the NLA Editor is introduced with a new set of bugs you don't know about causing it to crash if you move the time line by 5 pixels... more editing to fit in a clearer story, keeping pace and interest, adding new elements and retaining a story isn't easy.
3D Software wise, Cinema 4D XL 11.5 is pretty stable but easy to freeze up if you do certain things and viewport speed and without GPU acceleration support is a chore to work with..
Blender is one 3D app that I've forever hated, I used that back in 2001 and followed it's development regularly through the years and when they proclaimed a new version in the past, it wasn't any better, just as convoluted, buggy, non standard, reliant on key commands as ever. Over the past year since it's GUI changed for the better, I've watched it even more closly, even providing feedback on their YT channel on how to improve it and adapt ideas...
Thankfully my new Sapphire RX570 you can find in the Zebralette thread on the Instrument section can make use of it's real time GPU display in 2.8 but it's GUI still isn't as flexible in configuration, the object manager for instance compared to Cinema 4D.... There's still quite a bit of work to do and it's lacking in motion graphic tools department, which Mograph for Cinema 4D has. Maxon revealed a bomb shell revealing that they are introducing subscriptions to use the software, being tied to 14 day activation checks and pretty much screwing it's most profitable users of it...new CEO is from Adobe..but I digress...
The way I see things in life, is not about worrying about what anyone else is doing, or trying to compare one's self with another, it's about doing what you want to do and pushing one's self and your abilities and learning from them. I'm confident in my abilities as a music artist, but I'm not afraid to take on new challenges, and understand where one needs to bring things to higher level..
Some elements of this film/animation didn't get out of prototyping stage and were left for possible replacement, some things are not aligned properly, elements that lack reflectivity (environmental effects, textures that look low-res... I could reel off another dozen or so things, I could have changed if I looked closely enough... I learn more by doing things myself than watching others...sure for specific things it might help, but until one sits down and does it themselves, they really don't know the half of it. The entire film project I've posted took around 250 gigabytes of storage (just for reference)
Now, I'm trying to plan a new film, and do it in half the time it took to do this one....but better.
Weirdly, I've just checked my soundcloud channel and had 16 plays in the past 24 hours... lol.

You're getting a new GUI set for Zeb, (just imagine nobody else is getting it)
Where are you on the patch lists btw ?

Wasn't sure, whether to create another thread for this but as it's not publicaly available yet, I might as well highlight textually the detail changes of Hive 2 (Saturn)...given it's inclusion.
====Update Notes===+
Saturn Hive 2
New Features & Updates: (From top down)
Includes....
TOP
New HQ dark grey space military 3D GUI design. (Created to near pixel perfect precision and measurements).
Updated display colours ( applies universally to other parts of the GUI design ).
New custom made 'Hive' logo design.
New patch light point stylised navigation design menu.
New revised knob styling and dropdown widgets. ( OSC, Filter Sections ).
Sub menu heading abbreviated.
New rounded edged glass like oscillator / filter design displays, and relocation of widget buttons so waveforms can be seen without overlapping.
New mech-engine like mesh intake design to merge the top and lower sections.
Relocation and design of OSC/ Filter 'Linking Button' from left of the display to top centre of the main hexagon, with indicator colour changed from blue to transparent white.
Realignment of knobs and labels.
MIDDLE
Realignment of fader caps and with added blue light markings.
New knob design from silver highlighted to blue up-lit styling .
New stylised panel cut-outs to fit with new design theme.
New style of LFO buttons and adjustments of display design.
Stylised bordering of displays ( middle panel ).
Design change to 'Shape' panel, to add more white space and cut down on name duplication.
Reduction of capitalisation and abbreviation of long heading names.
Rounded glass targeting adjustments.
Improved numbering design over original GUI with separation lines and relocation of LFO Stepper so vector shapes don't overlap numbering.
Abbreviated keyboard source and destination panel with an added yellow light above text which replaces grey text on orange illumination buttons of original.
All hexagon background panel sections are now black excluding one that is party blue faded to black (scope pane).
Many changes to main hex navigation headings and text colour design, background labelling.
Hexagon FX section includes rounded tabs, and larger and thicker text with more clear separation between them.
Hexagon icons and colours have been changed to reflect changes in design, be that active and inactive.
Hexagon XY Pad background section has been changed to a concentric square shaded style whilst the XY position circles have been changed to a notch target style for accurate visual positioning.
New vertical ID based light dancing keyboard, with new panel design, separation and re-rendering of wheels in a gray shade style.
New Micro Tuning display window in a blue 1980's 8Bit Atari computer style.
New modulation matrix cut-out panel design with enhanced and illumination source shape fields. Updated knobs and button design.
New minimal XY panel design that replicates the mod matrix two shade panel. Relocation of knobs and numbering.
*New Dual Control XY control feature implemented on XY1 to XY4 panel sections. Adds symmetry and uses unused GUI space, whilst reducing the amount of scrolling, making it more desirable for those that naturally navigate the cursor from right to left within the DAW they use.
Main Patch Browser window with minor colour and element changes. Similar to the Micro Tuning screen but with a 1990's monitor look.
___
The process in updating this GUI from the base foundation and experimentation stage has involved hundreds of changes in both scripting and image creation besides a lot of problem solving in dissecting and assembling code to make things work and look to vision I've aimed for.
Future plans to being looked at: 'Hiding Panels'.

You're not very good at it. The video was poor on all levelsTHE INTRANCER wrote: Sat Aug 03, 2019 9:12 pm

Sorry to be so bold but you need to realise this for your own progression.
If you love doing this, which clearly you do, then keep going, I respect your determination and ambition but to bury your head in the sand and not really consider the feedback from others or just blaming the software / hardware then you will never find positive progression within yourself and your work.
- Artistically it had nothing.
- Cinematically it had nothing.
- Technically, whilst I'm sure the modelling wasn't easy, it had nothing.
1. Keep at it. 2. Most importantly, LISTEN, process, progress.

I don't know if this would be impressive to someone who knows nothing about 3D production, but to someone with any insight into that area, I'd expect it to fall far short of the mark, for many reasons. It certainly does for me, I find it pretty amateurish. Its main success is that its a finished thing.
If you were completely unaware of what standard of work is reasonable, then that'd be fine, but you need to accept you have a lot to learn. however, the hyperbole of your introductory paragraph indicates you seem to think this is exceptional, and since it really isnt, then your lack of self-awareness needs to be resolved before you'll be able to produce anything approaching decent work.
If it were the first thing someone had ever done with their 3D software, it would be a valiant first effort, but since you claim to have been doing this since the 90's, I think you really should realistically assess what you've attained in that time.
Unfortunately, from your post history, I honestly suspect that that kind of realism isn't on the cards.

There's nothing wrong with going your own way, "pushing one's self and your abilities and learning from them".THE INTRANCER wrote: Sat Aug 03, 2019 9:12 pmThe way I see things in life, is not about worrying about what anyone else is doing, or trying to compare one's self with another, it's about doing what you want to do and pushing one's self and your abilities and learning from them. And while I'd agree that you shouldn't worry about what other people are doing, it is good to be interested in what other folk are doing so that you can learn from them. It also gives you a point-of-reference with which to frame your own abilities and expectations, and this can help to inform how you present your work to others i.e the backlash you have received seems to be as a result of your stating that:
Had you presented this as you finding your way in a new discipline, and asking for feedback (and actually being ready to take it on-board), the response would likely have been very different. Moreover, you actually might have taken tips away that would help you improve your next projectsThis is a film exclusive, a film of which you will have likely never seen the likes of before..

He just reads/ computes what he wants to read , every criticism just flys over his head .
From all his posts on how he advises pro gui designers (reason , blender , studio one ..etc..)
It seems he doesn't even want to comprehend that his efforts are amateurish .
I think he is a perfect example of Illusory superiority and narcissism , serious stuff

Edit: I was trying to quote gentleclockdivider... but screwed up.
I made a short film a couple of years back... I'm not proud of it
. I still had a lot learn behind the camera, so there was a ton of technical problems, and working with kids was super frustrating (as they say). I'm planning another short film that's going to be similar, so it'll be good to be able to learn from all the mistakes I made with this film.
But anyway, I used Blender to do a creature (I've time-coded it to that bit... nobody needs to watch the rest
), it's not great, but not terrible for my first attempt, I sculpted and rigged the model all myself.
