If it was hardware, it might even be considered "vintage". :D
Windows 10 and too many plugins

Gribs wrote: Sun Aug 04, 2019 4:14 pm Izotope’s “creative” plugins are abandonware. If it is free or really cheap and you forget some good use or fun then who cares? I have other things to occupy my time, though.
There is no issue with abandonware, unless: a) It is a really buggy mess, or: b) It is no longer being maintained for current OS compatibility.

Pretty sure neither is the case, here.
This. With software people confuse mature with abandoned.
Iris 2 is a Milf.

What bums people out about Iris 2 being abandonware is that:

1) There are some significant bugs that were never squashed.
2) It had amazing potential to be even better if Izotope had wanted to develop it further.

Still an excellent plug.

Well has iZotope actually stated that it has been abandoned?

When you import your own sample to Iris 2, will it automatically be mapped to the keyboard in correct pitch or how does it work?

I'm sure that is much easier than addressing the point I made when you have nothing to offer in defence of your own (worthless) opinion.

They don't need to state it - Izotope has a track record of giving few updates to their products, and pretty much none after a few years. Any major update just becomes a new product instead. (Look at Ozone and Neutron.) To be fair to them, their products are generally stable, but when bugs do occur they often don't patch them. I contacted them a few years ago about serious bugs in Iris 2 that made it unusable in my daw and their response was basically a shrug. 3 years later & it still hasn't been patched, and it never will be.

Yes they do or it just remains your opinion rather than a fact.

Their strategy with different products in the past in no way constitutes evidence that Iris 2 has now been abandoned.

What are your issues? Maybe they haven't fixed them because they can't replicate them or work out what the problem is? I have certainly never had any problems with it, although I haven't used it much.

I haven't had any problems using it either, and certainly not to the point of it being unusable.

Could also be a bug in that specific DAW that has nothing to do with the Iris 2 code.

i'm only just now discovering Iris 2
sounds pretty special, CPU tax aside, it feels quite stable on my machine also. which goes a long way in my book.
very clear overall sound, some great factory patches, and each component of the synth seems quite high quality.
glad i didn't give the serial away now :P

Sonically it reminds me of the old CamelAudio synth, Alchemy.

Don't forget to install the sound libraries that come with it (but are separate downloads and installs). Increases the patch count tremendously.

The GUI doesn't seem to remember it's size -- always defaults to well.. original default out of the box size. And the parameter font is tiny. Even with the GUI resized to fit the screen. Maybe if a version 3 comes around they can tidy the GUI by moving some elements to another pane, toggleable with a button. Then they could increase the font size.

yeah reminds me of Alchemy too

I was avoiding izotope products till today because I thought the protection is only with iLok! I'm glad that there is another choice :)

I'm looking to play with it tonight. It seems a great synth from the demos I heard.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Just realized i can get it too. Think i'll get the Sonivox Woodwinds for 4€, and get Iris 2 for free. Nice offer. :)
