This one's almost laughable.
And you ready for the kicker, The Doors guitarist said the song was actually inspired by Sunshine Of Your Love, which also sounds similar to both of these.
Perhaps they should all sue each other.
Oh wait, back then they didn't do this frivolous lawsuit shit unless it really was do blatant that the songs were almost identical.
Rock music in the 60s would have never survived had things been like they are now.
Nobody who was around back then can even try to deny that.

But you see, this is really the best of all of them. Yeah, it was done as a joke but there is so much truth to it, which is why it's funny.

But if all that doesn't convince you, here's a 6 country song mashup. You can't tell one from the other. Don't get me wrong. I love country music but this shit is funny. They all f**king sound the same.

Hopefully, I've made my point. If country artists had the same attitude about their music as this rapper had about Katy Perry, they'd all be suing each other blind. But these are civilized people not looking to make a quick buck on a flimsy, at best, similarity between two songs.
You can justify all you want.
Country artists would disagree with your wholeheartedly and without question.
I've said my peace on this.
Good night.

Knock yourself out. I'm listening. I'm still getting the impression you don't quite get it.
You are just going to get angrier and angrier so... I don't really know what to say. Some of what you are posting is valid but the parties would have to engage each other. Flame is a bit different because he is at a considerably lower level of monetary success I would think. Maybe more theft then homage in his case. Pretty sure Sting and Rhianna are all set either way... Sting has done dubs of his Police material. It's each individual person's call I guess... to somewhat work together with a nod and a wink. I don't think it would be like, hey I'm Rhianna and I have never heard "Message In A Bottle"... not that sort of dishonesty... I think Sam Smith is a douche on a couple of levels and I am pretty sure he was unwilling to admit he heard a song played on radio all over the world a bunch of times a week... for the last 20 or 30 years...
I just feel like you are bitter. Bitter about the times, bitter about the industry... and kinda manipulating things to be bitter.
So again, knock yourself out. I am unconcerned about the industry, as you put it, falling apart over this case. I just find it interesting. That being said, all the stuff you are posting is lame to me, not very interesting... and does take up too much time when people should be listening to genuinely new ideas.

No implication here. Straight out stating it. Anybody who would sue over something so flimsy isn't civilized IMO.SAW75 wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:11 amWait... I'm sorry, what? Civilized people? But you're right, I don't get it. I don't get how there's so much music in the world that sounds almost identical all the way through and yet people are suing each other's asses off and here, we have 7 notes and a rap phrase and everything else being COMPLETELY different and $2.5 million is awarded.
You're right. I don't get it and I never will.

Wow. 9 pages of Katy Perry and Dark Horse on KVR. Her marketing team are good. Real good.
Me thinks this whole thing is just a marketing ploy to get Katy in the news. She about to drop a new record. The last one was real crap. Though I did really enjoy the two before that. Listened the hell out of them thanks to my kid spinning it non stop. .
From a music POV, the story is weak because the argument.ablut the Dark Horse seem to revolve around such basic rudimentary melody lines and structure. I bet there are little toddlers in junior kindergarten that tinker on toy pianos that come up with similar melody lines every day. Like seriously. This isn't Burt Bacharach melody stuff. It's really low level basic stuff. Kind a hard to claim originally.
That Christian rapper doesn't deserve a cent. I listened to his song. He is a blasphemy to the word "rap" and his song actually is so bad that it makes be want to turn on religion. What is the US society coming to?

I don't get this post ? What are you trying to claim, that all county songs sound the same ? There are different levels of country music, and not all of it is the mindless radio friendly budweiser gm truck driving radio friendly kind. Rossane Cash, Emylou Harris, Steve Earl make some of the best quality American country rooted and influenced music and have been doing it for decades .wagtunes wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:07 am Hopefully, I've made my point. Actually there was an implication there. You need to check yourself.wagtunes wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:22 amNo implication here.SAW75 wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:11 amWait... I'm sorry, what? No of course not. But enough of it does. Certainly my example proves that. But these people aren't suing each other. And there's a lot more similarities than between the rapper and Katy Perry.telecode wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:28 amI don't get this post ? As I said, I stated it outright if you read what I said. This guy isn't civilized if he sued over something so flimsy.SAW75 wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:29 amActually there was an implication there. I can't make it any clearer than that.
Anyway, I'm going to bed.
I'll continue this nonsense in the morning if I have nothing better to do.
