I don't think anyone could translate what that guy said as it's a language that doesn't exist outside of that TV show...

as to not so many different accents in the US, in my home growing up there were 4 of us with 4 radically distinct accents.
my mother's was a deep south-based accent, very melodious and graceful (belying her class and particularly her mother's speech) and not one you've heard in movies; my father spoke largely in a southern black accent; my sister had the single kind of generic local accent in the house; I strove not to have that accent and wasn't influenced by either parent. Today I have an accent you can't place. Kind of like I hear Nicolas Cage and wonder how that happened, because it is not well placed where he grew up.

Charlotte has people from many parts of the country so if one's accent is developing in school, there is *maybe* some dominance from the region but I woule def. say this is not a single accent to begin with, as there are neighborhood differences; the only way to homogeneity here would be everybody's parents and grandparents are from the same part of Charlotte. THAT SAID I had relatives whose experience was totally insular, rural, and they all talked the same. But THAT sound, a lot of it I couldn't even recognize as English. They kept to themselves.

So, there are millions of accents in the US I'd say. There'd likely be thousands you could identify just in South Florida for example.

but, seriously, up here is Canakistan, you got pretty much all accents known to man. The multi-cultural make up of the metropolitan city has changed so much in the last 20 yrs. but still, they can't beat Quebecers speaking english. Frenglish is such a messed up accent.. !!

Nope. Can't beat Newfie. The only Canadian accent and idiom that needs subtitles. It's like talking to a cross between a Rasta and an Irishman.

Fun fact - every other English speaking country in the world can recognize English accents from outside their own country, but not Americans. :hihi:

I'm actually American but was born in the UK, but I'm amazed at how often people suggest I am Canadian, Irish or Australian. Never had the happen to me in any other English speaking country.
If someone is from
The south in america or the hood we can differentiate that but canadians and Americans nah, thats like new zealand and Australia similar,
But how americans do london cockney accents in movies is so funny its like oliver twist era , 😂
