Can you run more than one instance at a time ? How does the analog hardware stuffed inside a USB thumb drive handle multiple instances ?

because I can, to me it's a superior OS and last year I went to some length to build a new computer that was Win7 compatible and also fast by current standards.
I'm on the same install since '11 and I'm firmly set on completing a decade with it.
ok so I still don't get the dealio about latency here. does the plugin say zero and you have to adjust the midi to be dead on with the rest of the project, or?
is that why they say to be at 256 samples or less

If you think it's a superior OS, you are a fool. A complete idiot, in fact. For a start, it uses one-third more system resources than Windows 8 or 10. It is basically just Vista with a coat of lipstick, every problem with that version of Windows was carried over unchanged. Even the kernel is only a point release above Vista - 6.1 as opposed to 6.0 for Vista. It should have been a Service Pack or point release but Vista's reputation was so bad they had to pretend it was a whole new version. The Start Menu in W7 is so bad that use of it dropped by as much as 80% for some tasks, compared to XP. That's why it got such a radical overhaul in Win8. I get why people stuck so long with XP but I can't understand anyone thinking Win7 was anything but a dog.

jeez, some people have problems with the start menu somehow, quick, let me compromise my ability to not have my computer forcefully cold-restart for an update in the middle of a session.

Funnily enough, that's something Windows 7 used to do to me all the time at work. OTOH, Windows 10 has never done it. Not even once. I can't remember Win8 ever doing it, either. And I get Insider builds about 10 times more often than an average user would get an update that requires a restart. Windows 10 will ask you if you want to restart now or wait until outside the Active Hours you set. That's after 1am for me, but only if the system is idle. If I am still using it, it will wait until I finish. Most updates, though, don't require a restart any more, unlike Win7.

you're right, it's as simple as shutting off the task, I got W10 on my laptop. W7 doing that is really weird though, not sure how that is achieved.
I picked up a nvme drive that's too small to make a dual-boot on it, and I need to keep W7 around because it works better for gaming with 3d glasses, is all.
I'm actually missing out on my optane (I'm using it as a page file drive lol) because I thought I'd be able to make it work on W7 but no can do - that's firmly W10 only. but when you have a nvme, it doesn't matter much.
other than that, rest assured it harnesses modern hardware just as well as W10 - I can cinebench 1700 with my 8700k, average is a bit lower than that. daw performance is insane.
ahh, I just realized that Trueno doesn't work above 44k, that's a huge bummer.

44.1k is suggested to use when working just audio (making music) . 48k when that audio is made for video because movies stream audio at 48k.BONES wrote: Thu Aug 08, 2019 1:08 am 48k is just some arbitrary number greater than 44.1k to dupe gullible morons into shelling out more money. I can guarantee you there is not a single person on the planet who could tell the difference under any conditions.
Usually people don't hear difference between those two but when using for example amp sims, aliasing occurs easier in 44.1k
Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Version 1.1.0 Beta
Version 1.1.0 is Trueno’s first major software update; it adds several highly requested features as well as a factory preset bank and improves USB reliability under Windows.
As we’ve added quite a few features and changed the way the USB communication works under Windows so we’re releasing it as a beta. We’re especially interested in hearing how it works for you if you’re using Windows.
New features:
High quality resampling – now works at any sample rate!
New preset browser added with patch/bank saving and loading.
39 factory presets included.
Tuning shows percentage while tuning.
Improved multi FX sound quality with lower CPU usage.
LFO/Env modulation destinations show value whilst dragging with adjusted gearing for finer control.
LFO/Env modulation destinations can now be assigned by right clicking.
Pitch wheel mapped by default.
Bug fixes
Improved USB reliability under Windows.

Windows 7 used to restart on me because the IT policies where I worked meant that all updates were installed as they became available. As Win7 didn't have the sophisticated mechanism for delaying restarts that you get with W10, it just restarted when it was ready. I could delay it for two hours but that just meant it would restart when I wasn't at my desk at some later time and half the time I missed the notification anyway.acYm wrote: Thu Aug 08, 2019 5:15 am you're right, it's as simple as shutting off the task, I got W10 on my laptop. That's what I don't get. It clearly takes most people way more effort to stay on W7 than it does to move to W10 but they still try and convince themselves that it's the right decision. If you need it for gaming, then that's absolutely a good reason to stick with but you have to acknowledge that it is miles behind W10. I haven't had to work at a Win7 workstation for a while now but last time I did it felt so outdated and clunky that it surprised me. Even Win8, which I still have on my 8" tablet because it is way better for touch than W10, looks and feels dated.I picked up a nvme drive that's too small to make a dual-boot on it, and I need to keep W7 around because it works better for gaming with 3d glasses, is all.

It was added to v1.1 Beta 18 months ago.

Why? It works just fine. It's a beta version more than anyone ever got from a MiniMoog but it didn't stop people buying them.
That may be true but the difference it would make in practical terms is next to zero. Sample rate isn't exponential like bit depth, the difference between 44.1k and 48k is less than 10%. At 96k the difference would be worthwhile but only in those very specific circumstances.Distorted Horizon wrote: Thu Aug 08, 2019 6:17 amUsually people don't hear difference between those two but when using for example amp sims, aliasing occurs easier in 44.1k

well maybe it's just me but this software, this really niche, luxury software still being on the same beta version for 18 months tells me they may sadly be just about to fold.
what the? do they not care?
had I bought this at release, for the price they charge, I'd expect 5 or 6 updates to have came out at this point in time.
for starters the browser system needs some work, it doesn't update the parameters to the host when switching presets (you'll say it doesn't matter, I don't care, to me it does and normally that's not an issue) so they can't leave it at that.
it also needs resizing (I don't care but most will)
the good news is that it installed just fine on my system, including the driver, and the vst seems to load and work fine in Kore, meaning I bet I could just pop the usb in, make a template, and be on my merry way with an actual analog in my (already rather epic) daw. that sounds too baller, so I'm probably gonna get one regardless.
why am I always late to the party like that.

Again, so what? Ensoniq haven't been around for 20 years but if you buy a Fizmo it is still going to work. Ditto for any vintage hardware. They could fold tomorrow and it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference to me or my attitude towards Trueno. If anything, I'd think the situation would make people more inclined to grab one while they still can, not less inclined. Anyone who buys anything with the expectation that it will be updated over is an idiot. You get what's in front of you at the time. I would not have bought v1 but the version I bought has patch memory so I couldn't care less if it never gets updated or if the beta becomes a release version. It's not great marketing to keep it in beta for so long but it works so it ultimately doesn't matter.
Obviously, being a mono synth, it can't. I did read somewhere about multiple instances but I can't see how it would work.Teksonik wrote: Thu Aug 08, 2019 1:42 am Can you run more than one instance at a time ? How does the analog hardware stuffed inside a USB thumb drive handle multiple instances ?

there, I found another slight little glitch, the envelope parameters can't be automated, clearly a bug because everything else has automation including all buttons and switches. means I can't do decay modulation, and also can't program the envelopes from controller.
kudos regardless for the fact I can automate the modulator tabs.
I'm not even getting sound out and the issues are piling up, what will I yet find once there's audio?
you really think there should be no expectation of regular updates, for a while at least, with such an experimental product? when clearly there is much room for polish and improvement still? you're something else.

Why don't you read this thread.. Should answer a lot of your questions..acYm wrote: Thu Aug 08, 2019 6:29 am that's very nice then, but, should I take it that this beta version from 18 months ago (!) will be the last version? this is a bit worrying...

And he replied to me when I asked about the beta couple of weeks ago, that it will most probably be the final release unless someone brings some serious issues up.
