hi,
i guess its impossible but ill ask it any way.
i wish i could use a tool to help compose my singing to a melody or chords.
u see its very difficult to me to pla the melody that comes to my mind when i sing my lyrics, on the keyboard.
does anyone know about a stand alone or plugin software that can help me with that??????????

thanks for your super fast replay.leonard wrote:sounds like Band-in-a-box is what you need
im downloading it right now' ive been to their site and it seems that this program does the opposite task. u need to enter the chords and its fix your singing. while i need something completly differnt, i want to record my singing and the program to tell me how to play this melody or chors at the keyboard.
am i right?

how about Audio to Midi conversion? You sing the melody, do the conversion, analyse the melody?
... no time for unnecessary politeness nor a debate ...
... you might not care but some members are actually human with feelings and stuff you know ???

Anteres Kantos can convert your singing to a midi data I believe. I dont think that there is any software solution to what you want to do other than learning alittle bit o music theory and figgering it out...
If you have a piano or midi keyboard or piano roll in your sequencer you should be able to figure it out without too much issue. as for finding the chords, go here http://www.looknohands.com/chordhouse/piano/
or buy a chord book and start learning.

i promise you.. the sooner you start playing the keys and experimenting, the sooner you will *know* how to harmonise.. no one can know what's in your heart (unless you have a plastic heart)
try looping 8 measures of your vocals and playing keys to it.. as you grow more familiar, it will be easier :p
i've always avoided theory/musical education. i've been composing for several years, and when i imagine music now, i usually have a clear image of two, sometimes three voices.
perhaps charting out the notes in each key will help if you're really beginning, but you should be set to go with just an instrument you can play notes on :p

here's my super-rudimentary guide to harmonisation.. (based on super-rudimntary aleatory circuit)
pick yer note. know what the other notes in the scale are.
the scale has 7 notes. so counting only the notes in the scale, go up or down 2 or 3 notes for one pitch, then in the same direction pick the 4th or 5th note. don't pick the 3rd and the 4th if they are RIGHT NEXT to each other.. (both notes can be in any octave)
oc this will only produce super cheesy harmonies, it's just a guid to get your fingers moving over the keys. if you don't like doing that part, you don't need to be making music because it will sound like something someone didn't like. go listen to my stuff if you don't believe me ;)

Yamaha XG Works also has a Pitch To MIDI convertor, so you can sing a melody in, and it will transefer it to MIDI Data. From there, it'll will interpret that data and make suitable choard progressions and song arrangements out of it.

and about the dead end- it happens. Sometimes you need to take the pressure off forcing your creativity and let it find its way out on its own...
