I'm sorry to inform all you fellow musicians...

I've just discovered the reason for my stress and side effects that followed it (panic attack being the worst).

Thank God for John Diamond, M.D.

Now, what I'd love to see in the near future is getting rid of all things related to PCM as it's dangerous to us all and should be made illegal.

Software and hardware manufacturers, you need to unite and make a change before it's too late!

Regards,

JMH

Too bad there is no smaller font for the disclaimer that I might not be entirely serious about this...

Crackpot of the Year for Life

Post

I used to enjoy reading a magazine called fanfare for the audio reviews of Neil Levenson. He was pretty good, turned me on to the joys of simple circuitry--but he did get a little wacky now and then.

He claimed that playing digitally mastered vinyl records damaged the bearings of turntables (and he had the microscopic pictures of Dual turntable bearings to prove it!) :nutter:

 Funny how these messages always come from someone who's selling something to the public. ;)

this really does explain a lot
at that pivotal year of 1979
I felt younger and had more energy.
I could abuse my body and mind with chemicals, carouse most of the night and still had recuperative powers sufficient to get to work and put in the hours.

Now there's the start of arthritis in my hip and hands. If I stay up late by a few hours, it takes 2 days to recover.

and to think it's all due to digital music. I should never have bought that 1st player. Bring back my last cherished vinyl purchase Buzzcock's 'Singles Going Steady' I'm sure there are healing properties in that vinyl play (at sufficient volume)

Of course this was well documented with earlier forms of Pulse Code Modulation. For example Morse Code telegraphy tended to disrupt the peace of mind of the unofortunate operators. They would tap away at the code for many hours a day, year in year out, until eventually it would be just doo dah doo dah doo dah.

Early analog recordings featured a tune known as the Camptown Races which made jocular in-joke references to the prevalence of this condition.

DSD is obviously what we need to soothe our frazzled nerves. I say - bring it on!
