Hi
I’m helping a friend set up a computer for music
He has Cubase 2.2.0 build 35
And a Terratec Aureon sky soundcard (the cut down version of the DMX 6 fire)
After installing Cubase we turned off the system sounds (set to no sounds)
And played some music…….all good
Then when I ran Cubase no probs opening.
I set the audio settings in Cubase to ASIO and a then a strange problem happened
A message saying the sample rate has been set constantly pops up (rendering Cubase unusable)
I cant get into any of the settings in Cubase to try out different things because the “samplerate warning” is overriding everything!
I have tried reinstalling Cubase and also the soundcard drivers (still problems)
What’s going on?
Please help
I have used Wavelab with the ASIO drivers and it functions ok
It is only Cubase that is having this problem with the ASIO. It’s as if the Samplerate is constantly changing.
Also another odd thing is that when cubase is getting these errors the clock source seems to be set to "spdif" but i cant change it because the error overrides me accessing anything on Cubase. (not sure how relevant this bit is)

It can be done outside cubase, in windows explorer:
for the ASIO settings you must look up some file in the Cubase folder.
There are only a few EXE files in that folder, one of them is for setting the buffer, the samplerate and some more stuff all related to ASIO.
But being an ex-cubaser, I have no clue what the name is.

when i do this it displays the new value as the first error then displays 44.1 (i assume cubase's samplerate) as the continuing errors.bMachine wrote:Try to set samplerate and ASIO latency in Terratec`s Control Panel before starting Cubase
Thanks anyway
Its as if something is constantly resetting the samplerate because the error "samplerate has changed" reapears constantly.....

First of all :
Find out which driver version u are using, u can do that in the controlpanel of your card. be sure that the controlpanel + the driverversion is from the same versionpack. u can download the drivers from the terratec website, the packs including the drivers and the controlpanel.
and if u are using sensaura in the controlpanel of your card, the samplerate is LOCKED - so be sure that sensaura is disabled.
if you still got problems after checking this reply here......

terratec
Aureon 5.1 Sky
Software: Version 5.01.2600.10
Interface: Version 5.01.2600.10
Driver: Version 5.01.2600.11
System Information
Windows: Windows XPService Pack 1 (5.1 Build 2600)
Direct X: Version 9.0 (4.09.00.901)
When we did the install I used my disk for my soundcard. (it had a "B" on it)
But we uninstalled my drivers and control pannel and used the disk that came wih my friends identical card. Only his drivers and control pannel disk had a "C" on it.
Looking at the information above it appears that the Diver has a single digit at the end diffferent to the software and interface? Is this relevant? Would that cause some sort of problem?
I tried to download drivers from Terratec website but it wasnt functioning.
I've been Gigging all week but have some free time to do some more tests tomorrow.
Any ideas?
Also we uninstalled servicepack 2 from contol pannel following advice from terratec.

But late last night we downloaded the drivers from a non uk part of your site. and they worked
i got an email from tec support with a link that went to these new drivers also.
My faith is restored........Now to write music.
