The S4PE install updates the VST Adapter without prompting to v4.4.3.1.

Good news. My S4PE has just arrived. Now let me go and install the thing and be a happy man. :D

All I can say is..."FREEZE!"..."Hold it right there!"...:P

Just installed and did a little testdrive. I love it :D

I been playing around with it a fair bit now and has done a few private recordings. I love some of the new features like track folders and freeze. Some other features like clip muting does not work so well for me yet as I have to get used to it and learn to do it right.

Tommorow I'm getting some people into the studio and will have the chance to give it true work-out. We will see if S4 can perform the way it should. :D

hi

i know i am late so this might have been answered but there is a way you just highlight the tracks and press H to have all the other tracks disappear, or shift H to do the opposite when you want everything back press A if you want to go back to the original press U or to and forth press Shift+ U

hi Sepheritoh, could you say a little more about the clip mutes, how is it that they're suppose to work that you're not used to yet?

When I slip edit I can very easily default the slip edit to the nearest zero cross point, avoiding clips and pops when a new clip starts. This does not seem to work with the mute function.

there won't be one host for everybody (thankfully). they all nick ideas from each other, which is a good thing imo.

what's important is that sonar 4 is here and now, live5 is somewhere in the not so near future.

anyway, t2.

k
Does it handle VSTi natively now or do you still need a wrapper because they want to support DXi natively?

Post

S4 still requires a wrapper.

actually, they support neither natively, even DXi is wrapped in their own format

"Native support" is a bit of a misnomer. Unless you are Steinberg (which invented VST), and using it's own VST effects then you would have truly "native support". :) But then even Nuendo 2 has a VST-DX wrapper dll for third party VST's. So does ACID 5 (which now claims native vst support), with it's own VST-DX wrapper (sfvstwrap.dll). So does Magix with Samplitude 7.2, (FxVdx.dll), which coincidentally, is the same FXpansion wrapper that Cakewalk and the UAD-1 uses, except an earlier 3.x version. Cakewalk just released a new and improved version with the SONAR 4.01 update (v4.4.3.3). They are all using wrappers to some extent. As an end user, the bottom line is.....does your host app successfully use VST/VSTi & DX/DXi plugins or not. In SONAR 4's case, it most certainly does.

If I am using Sonar 3.1.1 should I (can I?) update the VSTi/DXi adapter?
