'Snap' in render- quick question

I had an audible 'snap' in a redner thru cubase today in my track. I didn't do anything unusual, but when I played the track it was always in the same place.

I listen carefully to my track- this was not an artifact of anything 'usual'...I know all about common causes of snaps and pops in recordings. my system is fine, but I am curious-

my quesion is can windows xp sometimes take resources from rendering causing this sort of effect?
