There isn't one, the colours will shift to the next shade for when ever a new track is created. If you want all the tracks you've created to be one set colour, hold Shift / or Ctrl and select the tracks you want to change and click on the colour strip that lays on the far left. You also have the options to disable the colouration of the track so only a small portion of the strip is coloured as well as in the console (Mixer) vie the (Options / Editing / Advanced) panel. Alternately you can build your track within a folder track so each track remains the same colour or default that you wish to use from the outset (there is also an option with folder tracks to disable this). Alternately build a template song you can re-use with however you want your tracks coloured.

After the update, it always sets the color to gray for any new track.
Before the update, it also was set to a certain color for new tracks.
There has to be a default track color setting somewhere (I hope).

Then you need to go to the main menu, Studio One / Options / Advanced 'tab'/ Editing 'tab', and tick Colourize Track Controls.Musical Gym wrote: Sun Aug 25, 2019 12:25 am After the update, it always sets the color to gray for any new track.

Note: If the track is disabled, it will be completely greyed out.. (the device / instrument will be disabled in this state)

Thank you, working better now but not completely predictable (as far as I can tell so far).
Might be nice to have a track default color picker on that tab.

How does that let me choose a specific default color?

It doesn't. There is no default track color for tracks in Studio One. Was only pointing out that there's no need to go into the options dialog to change that other setting...
… that it's in the track options menu.Options / Advanced 'tab'/ Editing 'tab', and tick Colourize Track Controls.

Thanks for reply.
I think the default track color may be related to the first color instantiated with the first track in a song. I'll check. I seem to be getting the color (or close) that I want now.

Yes, it appears to follow the color index order so the only real default is the first track in an empty song which appears to get the first color from the top left of the color squares, and the next track gets the next color and so on, left to right and top to bottom by rows.
There's no current way to tell it to automatically make all new audio tracks green or anything like that. It could do that but it would have to be scripted.

If I'm not mistaken it's a checkbox in the track creation dialogue. I'm not in front of my machine right now to verify but I think that's the case.

No problem just so others know. If you press T on your keyboard or create a new track you will see the AutoColor option checked on. Check it off and choose whatever color you want. All track going forward will have the default color you set.

What I'd like is for the default track color to be the same when dragging an instrument to create a track. When I did that, it gave me a different color.

True. I thought he was talking about Add Instrument Track or Add Audio Track, Add Folder Track, whatever from the menus of hotkeys. I personally almost never use that dialog for new tracks but sure, if you don't mind opening that dialog every time you create a new track, you can do it there.apoclypse wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2019 11:45 pm No problem just so others know. What I was referring to more is that with scripting you could create actions to color the selected track any color(s) you want, and then put those behind the Add (whatever type) Track actions in macros and when you hit hotkey A you always get a new blue Audio Track, hotkey I you always get a new green Instrument Track, and so on.
That still wouldn't cover the use case from his last reply for dragging in an Instrument to create a new track but you could still quickly hotkey color conform it afterward without searching for the color.
That's what I thought he was getting at, default colors for new tracks by type. If you just want all tracks to be all the same color all the time, sure, use the dialog.
Apologies if I misunderstood the intent there.
