The problem with the performer is it doesn't have the countered heel or noiseless pickups.
Man, those are WAY down in price too.......

I know that feeling well. All part of the GAS process. I hope you get a good one! Have you ever dealt with Sweetwater? I've read many people rave about their service.

I bought a guitar from them a long time ago. I don't think that their 55 point inspection is overly great because in the end you need it set up FOR YOU, but it's good that they have it. I love Sweetwater, I buy from them whenever I can but I don't have a card with them, so I took advantage of the 36 mo. no interest with my GC card.
BTW, this isn't GAS. I have had my eye on this style of guitar for a LONG TIME. But I can't pass up that price, 36 mo. no interest right now.
SIDE NOTE: I see that that have the same thing but with a striped ebony FB. Since it's labor day tomorrow and they won't ship, I might change my mind and get that. But an extra 50 bucks

A Strat with an ebony fretboard? Don't think I've ever come across that. I prefer ebony over rosewood or maple, or the composites. I'd go for that one, personally. I know what you mean about setups. My new Eastman was setup 'to my spec' before it was shipped, but it still needs to see my luthier friend for a fret dress, nut filing and saddle lowered.

No way, I do a lot of high gain stuff and it's just WAY to noisy.telecode wrote: Mon Sep 02, 2019 12:21 pmyeah. thats what i am saying. if you are going to gut a new guitar, get one without the noiseless.reggie1979 wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2019 10:30 pm The problem with the performer is it doesn't have the countered heel or noiseless pickups.

I'm going to stick with the maple because I'm afraid the stripe might not be as cool as that photo.

Re contoured heel and Compound neck, noiseless pups
My Modern Player Tele, and Jackson JS34Q don't have these features either. They play great. (though the tele's pups aren't ideal) They blow away my MIM's (Blacktop Tele, Charvel Pro Mod)
That being said, while it doesn't have the "traditional sound without the noise" of Fender noiseless pups. My old strat plus with Lace sensors is simply amazing.

I like noiseless pickups, but prefer the sound of a standard set of Fender pickups in a good guitar. I'd go for regular pickups for anything without gain, but noiseless are great once you start pushing the volume.
I have a set of Fender vintage noiseless in my Strat, and they sound good, but not quite classic Strat. Someday I will get a decent Strat, but I definitely would want single coils in an expensive Strat.
Conversely, I like the sound of my Seymour Duncan vintage stack in the bridge position of my Tele (I have a Seymour Duncan P-Rail in the neck position). I think if I got an expensive Tele I'd get single coils, but I do love the sounds I get from my current Tele.
