Yeah especially since aproxiamtely .0005% of all recordings made were on digital equipment in 1979. It also explains that even though less than 10% of households owned digital playback technology until the late 80s, and most digital recordings were still recorded analog and converted to digital for CD release.

Luckily we have our savior Dr. john diamond. Break these chains of digital enslavement Dr. D! entrance me with your analog bliss :drunk:

Whats that Dr. D? You want me to sign my assets over to you? You have some kool aid for me? you want me to drink some and then give it to my missus and children? <monotone voice> what ever you say Dr. John Diamond</monotone voice>

Could digital music, then, explain U.S. presence in Iraq?

I remember reading quite a few years ago (early 90's) an article on test Sony were doing on Compact Disc Players and human behavior.

The tests consisted on measuring tension rises on a panel of people listening to CD's in one room and Analog recording in the other (same music of course)

The results were so bad that all futur tests were not made public :-o

I blame terrorisme on PCM

Bingo! I got my first craptastic cd player in 1987 or so, and I considered myself an early adopter! :hihi: Most cd's I have are ADD, not DDD.

As Dave Foley said to the crowd after coming out in blood soaked surgeons attire.... "I'll let you in on a secret... I'm not really a doctor. But I always wondered how far I could get by on charm alone...
Apparently, it's pretty far!"

The good Dr. claims that DSD doesn't cause the same problems as PCM. For those that don't know, DSD utilizes only a single bit but extremely high sampling rates, allowing more frequency content and better audio quality (supposedly).

Perhaps the therapeutic nature of analog recordings and natural music are hidden in the missing frequency spectrum that 16bit 44.1khz PCM doesn't contain...and it's absence causes our primordial ape minds to go crazy in subtle ways?

I blame it on the lack of 'backwards masking' these days.

If you play Boards Of Canada's 'Secret Window' backwards, it's disturbingly MORE silent. :-o
